IMPROVEMENT IN METALLIC WEDGES FOR SPLITTING STONE, AND PUNCHES AND DIES FOR MAKING THE SAME- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 151,] 5 1, dated May 19, 1671; application filed January 17, 1874.
To all whom -itmay concern:
' Be it known that I, J osnrn PALMER, of Concord, in the county of Merrimack, State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and Improved Method of Manufacturing ledges for Splitting Stone; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in constructing dies for punching out wedges of the required form.
I11 the drawings annexed hereto, Figure 1 is a drawing of The top die or punch. Fig. 2 is a top View of the lower die. Fig. 3 is a drawing of the manufactured wedge.
A great number of these wedges are used by stonemasons in splitting stone, and they have been heretofore forged by hand, at considerable labor and expense.
By means of these dies they may be punched out of scrap-steel or steel bars, as may be con venient, at very slight cost, and with Very small expenditure of labor.
I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The top and bottom dies, constructed substantially as and for the purposes setforth.
2. As an article of manufacture, the wedges by them manufactured.
