The particulary advantage' of this construction resides in the manner in` which the levers are pivoted -upon the fulcrum. ln levers ofr this general type mounted on a 25 common fulcrum the connect-ion between the levers must allow for the longitudinal movement of the Coupler'head in draft and in huling and thekrotative movement of `the pin lifting lever about the fnilcrumtmusthe limited for the purpose of safety tothe operator. Rectangular' openings 13 are swedged in the adjacent. ends ofthe operating and pin lifting levers through which'is passed a. rectangular i connecting l and .n hearing llolock 14C having a central' aperture adaptedV to pass over and rotateupon the reduced portion' 1:2 ofthe yfulcrum casting-,y thus the connecting loo y and bearing block forms rotative connection havel a non-rotative connection therewith so that the two levers have a unitaryl vertical This connecting and bearing block 14 is provided on the outside along its upper and lower edges with right angular lugs or projections 15 and the block is secured in position by a bolt 16 passing from the rear through the supporting plate `10 and parts 11 and 12 of the fulcrum casting having a washer 17 andnut 118 on the outer end of the fulcrum adapted to be engaged by the outer side of the bearing block. Itis-preferable to arrange the hand operatinglever on the inner side adjacent to the shoulder formed by the part 11. To allow or compensate for longitudinal movement of the free end of the pin lifting lever, the end of this lever about the fulcrum is bent `at'an angle, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, so
that the bend 19 in' the metal is vertical and passesthrough the center of the fulcrum. rllhe lugs or projections 15 on the connecting bearing block may be tapered from the center of the fulcrum towards each end.' However, the thickest portion will be opposite the bend in the pin lifting lever so that movement back and forth vin the direction of the longitudinal center of the car willcause this end of the lever to pivot on thebearing block projections without transmitting such movement to the operating lever. Since kthe bearing and connecting block is of rectangular shape and is received within similar rectangular openings in the ends `of each of the levers a downward movement of the operating lever will cause a corresponding upward movement to the pinlifting lever for unlocking the coupler head. f Y
While this invention is illustrated as applied to a certain type of freight car, itA is readily adapted with but slight immaterial changes for application to other types.
. This application is a continuation of my application ASerial No. 458,501, filed April 4, 1921; certain typical forms of the invention herein disclosed being originally shown and described in said application.
What I ,claim isz' j I 1. A release rigging for railroad car couplers -comprising an operating lever, a coupler lock pin lifting lever, a fulcrum for said levers upon the car, and a combined connecting and Vbearing block which passesy through apertures in said levers.
2. A release rigging for railroad car couplers comprising an operating lever, a
coupler lock pin lifting lever, a fulcrum for said levers upon the car, a combined connectingk and bearing block which passes through apertures in said levers, and means thereon allowing pivotal movement of the pin lifting` lever thereon horizontally independent of the operating lever.
3. A release rigging for railroad car couplers comprising an operating lever, a coupler lock pin lift-ing lever, a fulcrum for said levers upon the car, and a combined connecting and bearing block for said levers upon said fulcrum passing through the ad-' said levers upon the car, a combined connecting and bearing block of rectangular contour upon said fulcrum passing throughk coupler lock pin lifting lever, a fulcrum for similarly shaped apertures provided therefor in the adjacent ends of said levers,land means for retaining said block upon said fulcrum.
6. A release rigging for railroadv car couplers comprising an operating lever, a coupler-lock pin lifting lever, a fulcrum for said levers upon t-he car, a combined connecting and bearing block for saidv levers uponsaid fulcrum, and lugs upon the upper and lower sides thereof adapted to hold said levers thereon.

A release rigging for railroad car couplers comprising an operating lever, a coupler lock pin lifting lever, a fulcrum for said levers upon the car, a combined con? necting vand bearing block for said `levers upon said fulcrum passing through vapertures provided in the adjacent ends of said levers, lugs upon the upper and lower edges of said block adapted to holdsaid levers thereon, said apertured vend of the pin lifting lever having a bend therein, and said lugs tapered from center to ends co-acting with said bent portion of the pin lifting lever to allow limited pivotal movement on said block about said lugs.
8. In a release rigging lfor car couplers comprising an operating lever having an aperture adjacent its fulcrum end, a coupler pin lifting lever having an aperture adjacent its fulcrum end, a member passing through said apertures having non-rotative connection therewith, and a fulcrum passing through said member having a rotativeconnection therewith, said levers mounted upon said member so as to permit relative horizontal movement betweenk said levers.
9. In a release rigging for car couplers comprising an operating lever having an aperture adjacent its fuicrum end, la coupler pin lifting lever having an aperture adjacent its fulcrum end, a member passing through said apertures having a non-rotative connection therewith, and a fulcrum passing through said member having a rotative connection therewith.
