PIN CARRIER Filed May 31 1923 ,pwdl yyeg lm ATTORNEY Patented July 22, 1924.
NITED STATES (PA "Ear oFicE.
DAVID LEGGOTT, OF BATTLE GREEK, MICHIGAN,; ASSIGNOR TQ THE REYES-DAVIS COMPANY, INC., OF BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
PIN CARRIER.
Application filed May 31, 1923. Serial No. 642,576.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID Lneeo'rr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pin Carriers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawmgs.
This invention relates to certain improvements in pin carriers and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in laundries in connection with wet wash and it is an object of the invention to provide a carrier embodying a holder with which is adapted to be engaged laundry marking pins which holder and the pins associated therewith having similar identities.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved pin carrier whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view in elevation illustrating a carrier constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention with pins engaged therewith;
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken through the carrier proper;
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken through the carrier proper.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes a metal plate having one end portion substantially V-shaped while the opposite end portion is provided with an outstanding arm or lug 2, said arm or lug 2 being provided with a perforation 3 whereby the device may be hung on a nail, hook, peg or the like.
In its parallel side portion the plate 1 is provided with the relatively small openings 4 while in the marginal portions of the V- shaped end of the plate 1 are provided the openings 5 of larger size. The plate 1 has also produced thereon an identifying indicium 6, herein disclosed as a numeral.
The marking pins 7 are adapted to be employed in connection with the plate or holder 1 and each of said pins has produced thereon and preferably upon the guard thereof an identifying indicium 8 similar to the identifying indicium 6 on the plate or holder v1. The pins 7 of one size are engaged Within the plate or holder 1 through the openings 4 while pins of a larger size are engaged through the openings 5.
The device is particularly adapted for use in laundries which do rough-dry or wet wash business. As each family bundle arrives at the laundry one carrier complete with pins is assigned to it. The special articles such as silk, wool, etc., are marked with the small pins and the other articles are netted in nets pinned with oneof the larger pins. The articles then-go through the regular laundrying process and at the completion of which the bundle is reassembled, the pins 7 removed from the garments and nets and replaced in the holder or plate 1. When the holder or plate 1 is complete with the proper number of pins 7 all bearing the same distinguishing mark 8 as the mark6 of the plate or holder 1, the bundle is then complete with no pieces missing and no pieces included which should properly belong with another bundle. It is to be understood that the use of the larger pins in the larger openings 5 of the plate is a matter of selection and is not made necessary by their respective shapes.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a pin carrier constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim A laundry marking unit comprising, in combination, a plate having openings of different sizes in its marginal portions and a 5 plurality of laundry pins of diflt'eren't sizes, pins of one size being insertible through the openings of :one size, the larger pins being insertible through the larger openings and ice versa, the plate and all of the pins havingsimilar identifying indician V 10 In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
