Be it known that L HELENE REID, a citizen of the United States, residingat Parkers burg, in theA county of Butler and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVatering Devices, of which the following is aspecification.
This invention relates to watering devices, and has particular referenceto fowl watering devices of the bai'onietric type.
The primary object of the invention isto provide a wateringedevice of the above kind which may be cheaply and easily manufactured, and which embraces the desired qualities of simplicity, durability, and efficiency in operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide a baronietric watering device for small chicks, which may be conveniently kept clean and which will not get out of order under ordinary circumstances or conditions encountered during its use.
Other objects will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, and the same consists in the novel form, combination, and arrangement of parts, hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a watering device constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Referring more in detail to the drawing, the invention embodies a reservoir 5 and a pan 6 both of which are constructed in a novel manner from sheet metal so as to be characterized by their extreme durability and simplicity.
The pan 6 is formed of sheet metal with a rim formed of upturned side flanges 7 and end flanges 8, the end edges of which are in contiguous relation. The ends ofthe end flanges 8 are provided .with straps 9 that extend against the outer surfaces of the ends of the side flanges 7 to which they are secured by riveting or the like 10, the joints at the corners of the pan being made water tight by means of solder or the like.
The reservoir 5 is adapted to be received within the pan 6 and is of such size as to leave a space between the rim ofthe pan and the ends and sides of the reservoir where the water is exposed for access by the chickens as is well known in connection with wateringk devices of this type.
AThe reservoir 5 embodies anl elongated tubular body portion 11 that is preferably formed by bending a sheet of'metalso that the body portion has a rectangular cross section as shown in Figure 3,` the'ends of the sheet ofl metal forming the body portion 11 being overlapped at the bottom of the body portion as generally indicated at 12, and
secured together as by riveting or the like4 as at 13. The four walls ofthe bodyportion 11 have outturned flanges 14 upon opposite ends thereof vwhich are of a width vslightly less than the width of the flanges 7 and 8 of the pan 6, and the ends of the body portion 11 are closed by means of flat sheet metal end walls 15 that flatly engage the outer sides of the flanges 14e and have their edges providedl with inturned flanges 16 that lie flatly against the innerk surfaces of the flanges 14 as shown clearly in Figures 1 and 3. Solder or the like is freely/employed at the ends of the body for securing water y tight joints between the end walls 15 and the body portion 11. i
From the above it will be seen that when the reservoir 5 is placed centrally within the pan 6, the ` flanges 14 and 16 and the end walls 15 will support the bottom of the reservoir body 11 above the bottom of the pan 6 at an elevation below the upper edges of the flanges 7 and 8 which form the rim of said pan 6. kWater is placed within the reservoir 5 through an opening 17 formed centrally in the bottom wall of the body portion 11, which opening is preferably provided by providing mating opposed notches in the overlapping edges 12 of the sheet of metalfrom which the body 11 is formed. The opening 17 also forms a discharge opening thru which the water passes into the pan 6 when the reservoir 5-is placed within said pan, and it is evident that a water seal is thus had for preventing water overflowing the pan 6. The water is thus maintained at a predetermined level in the pan and is replenished automatically by flowing from the reservoir as the water is used from the pan.
From the above description it will be seen that the device embodies only two separable members, ywhich are of simple, cheap and durable form, and'which will present no objectionable crevices or the like Vin Which dirt may lodge to a disagreeable extent, the parts being thereby easily cleaned, andk clogging of the device being rendered practically impossible under ordinary conditions met With in the use of the device.
Minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

A barometric Watering device of the character described comprising a shallow elongated pan, an elongated reservoir adapted to be positioned centrally Within the pan for providing a narrow water space between the reservoir and the rim of the pan, said reservoir embodying a body portion of elongated tubular form having outturned flanges upon the ends of the Walls thereof, fiat end Walls disposed against the outer faces of the body flanges and having edge flanges turned` inwardly yagainst the inner surfaces of said body flanges, said body being formed of a sheet of metal with its ends overlapped at the bottom of the body, and
saidj ends being provided With mating notches forming a central opening in the bottom of the body.
