Description

June 10 1924.
' L. E. HENDEE FUSE Filed Jan. 13, 1922 FIG. 2
WITNESSES Patented June 10, 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEM E. HENDEE,OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR TO LINE MATERIAL COM- PANY, OF SOUTH MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, A CORPORATION OF WISCONSIN.
FUSE.
Application filed January 13, 1922. Serial No. 529,021.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEM E. HENDEE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fuses, of which the following is a description, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification.
The invention relates to fuses.
The object of the invention is to provide an article of manufacture for ready use by electricians, consisting of a strip or coil of fuse wire, either of ribbon or round crosssection, punched at intervals so that individual fuse elements of the proper currentcarrying capacity may be progressively cut off from the coil.
A further object of the invention is to 2 provide a coil of fuse wire punched at intervals to form individual fuse elements having a single tongue at one end and spaced tongues at'its other end, which elements may be progressively cut off from th coil.
The invention further consists in the several features hereinafter set forth and more particularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a view of the article of manufacture embodying the invention; Fig. 2 is a plan view of one of the fuse elements.
In Fig 1 of the drawing I have shown fuses.
By providing such av coil or strip of fuse wire it becomes a simple matter for the electrician to progressively cut off any one or more fuse elements that he needs.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. As an article of manufacture, a strip of fuse material punched at intervals so that individual fuse elements may be provided by cutting the material at such intervals.
2. As an article of manufacture, a strip of fuse material having alternating recesses and holes formed therein at spaced intervals so that individual fuse elements having a tongue at one end and spaced tongues at the other end may be secured from the strip.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature.
LEM E. HENDEE.
