To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, VILLIAM W. HUNT and JOHN SELINE, citizensof the Dominion of Canada, and each a resident of Edmonton, in the county of Edmonton and Province of'Alberta, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Bag Structures, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in a bag structure and has for its primary object the provision of an improved form of bag which will be strong and durable and which will be provided with novel closure flaps and locking means for the same and also corner cars by which the bag may be handled without danger of pulling open the closure members.

The invention has for a further object the provision of' a bag for grain or the like constructed in such a manner that the bag may be filled by the usual methods and then closed and locked securely for storage and transportation with the closure flaps K sealed in closed position.

With the foregoing and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of co-operating elements as hereinafter more specifically set forth, claimed and shown in the accompanying drawings forming a part of the present application and in which:

Referring more in detail to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 4 indicates the front member and 5 the rear member of the bag, which are formed of one piece of material, thereby providing a bag without any seam across the bottom thereof. The front member 4 and rear member 5 are connected along their vertical edge by the side seams 6, the edges 7 being turned back in opposite directions on the interior of the bag after connection, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 3. A free front closure flap 8 is extended from the upper edge of the front member 4 and is folded out, as shown in Fig. 1, during filling of the bag. After the bag is filled this free front closure flap 8 is folded in over the con-- tents of the bag, as shown inFig. 3.

A rear closure flap 9 isformed as an extension of the rear member 5 of the bag and the rear closure *fiap 9 is turned down over the outer face of the rear member 5 and secured by itsvertical edges in the side seams 6, as shown clearly in Fig. 3. The free edge 10 of the rear closure flap 9 is re versely curved so that the central portion depends further than the side portions thereof. When the bag is filled and the free front closure flap 8 folded inwardly to its closed position, the rear closure flap 9 is then drawn forwardly over the top of the bag to its closed position, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

The closure locking strap 11 is carried on the outer face of-the rear closure flap 9 and extended past the free edge 10 thereof. This closure locking strap 11 carries a plurality of spaced eyelets 12, any one of which may be brought into registration with the eyelet 13 carried by the short closure looking strap 14 mounted on the front member 4 of the bag, the eyelet 13 being carried in the free upper end of the short closure looking strap 14. .After the

11 and 14 have been overlapped as stated, a suitable looking or sealing device may be secured in the registering eyelets 12 and 13 of the

11 and 14 respectively, so as to prevent unauthorized parties from attaining access to the contents of the bag without destruction of the locking or sealing device 15 or a portion of the bag.

In order that the bag may be readily handled without danger of pulling open or tearing the closure flaps 8 and 9, the bag is provided with corner ears or straps 16 at its upper corners and securely fastened to the sides of the bag at the upper ends of the side seams 6. This may be readily understood by referring to Figs. 2 and 3. It is evident that when handling this bag a good grip may be obtained on the corner ears or straps 16 to facilitate lifting and transportation of the bag with the minimum liability of danger to the bag and its contents.

It is believed the complete construction and utility of the bag may now be readily apparent to parties familiar with such devices, from the foregoing paragraphs taken in connection with the accompanying drawings without further detailed description. It may be briefly stated, however, that the closure flaps 8 and 9 may be readily folded to their closed or opened positions as desired. Furthermore, the closure locking straps 11 and let may also be readily overlapped and locked together or released, as desired. When filled and closed, the bag is smooth on its interior and the only projecting members are the rear closure flap 9, the

11 and 14, the sealing f or locking device 15 and the corner ears or straps 16. These members only serve, however, to protect the contents of the bag and strengthen the latter and do not project sufficiently to interfere with proper handling, transportation or storage of the bag. It is believed that further description is unnecessary.

\Vhile the preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of co-operating elements may be resorted to within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What we claim as new is:

1. A bag comprising a front member and a rear member formed of a single section of material and connected along their side edges; said front member carrying an extension folder fiap adapted to be folded in- 2. A bag formed of a single section of material and including a front member and a rear member; a comparatively small closure flap extension carried by said front member; a comparatively large closure flap carried as an extension of the rear member and secured along its parallel edges between the front and rear members of th bag; said first mentioned closure flap being adapted to be folded inwardly over the filled bag; said second mentioned closure flap being adapted to be drawn over the top of the filled bag and over the first mentioned closure flap; closure locking straps carried by the second mentioned closure strap and the front member of the bag; said closure locking straps having eyelets adapted to be brought into registration for the purpose of securing together said closure locking straps; and lifting straps carried by said bag.
