BANANA. AND ADVERTISING HANGER.
Application filed May 25,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC K. FRIEDMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort \Vorth, in the county of Tarrant and State of T exas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Banana and Advertising Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a combined means for protecting bananas and for advertising and for cooling the atmosphere about a store or other place; and the object is to provide a simple device which will protect bunches of bananas from insects and dust and which will keep the atmosphere cool about the premises and which will serve as a valuable advertising means. Other objects and advantages will be fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application.
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the protecting and advertising device, partly broken away. Fig. 2 is a similar view, showing the manner of suspending a bunch of bananas to be protected. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the motor and fan and the surrounding frame. Fig. 4: is side elevation. of the device without the banana suspending means and showing the manner of advertising.
Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the sev eral views.
The drawings show a motor 1 of ordinary type and a circular frame 2 with a. similar lower member 3 and these frame members are suspended by means of braces or arms 4 which are connected to and supports the motor 1 and which are crossed and bolted or riveted at the lowest parts to a. plate 5. The plate 5 also supports a hook 6 which is used to support bananas. The frame is surrounded by a plate or band 7 of metal or other suitable material. When the device is used merely as a fan and for advertising purposes the lower parts of the frame members may be left off if preferred and the hook 6 dispensed with.
The motor 1 drives a fan which is provided with blades of any required type. When the device is used for protecting bananas, blades 9 may be used. The blades 9 are so constructed that they will direct a blast of air downwardly and in a curved 1922. Serial No. 563,487.
form. The object of this construction of blades is to protect the bunches of bananas when hung as shown in the drawings and to direct the blast in such manner that the blast will go close to the bananas but will not touch the bananas. The blast would have a drying effect if allowed to strike the bananas. The blades are so constructed as to pass the blast downwardlyall around a. bunch of bananas without striking the bananas. This draft will keep away flies and other insects and will keep away dust so that the bananas will be fully protected.
Forordinary cooling effects, blades 10 may be used. The plate or band 7 may be conveniently used for advertising purposes whether the device is used for more cooling purposes or used for protecting bananas. When the device is used for protecting bananas it performs three functions and these functions are: Protecting thebananas against insects, protecting the bananas against dust, and also maintaining the proper temperature about the bananas.
It is apparent that this device can be used for protecting other fruits than bananasand for protecting other goods. The plate 7 should be made of material suit-able for advertising purposes.
What I claim, is,-
1. A banana protecting and advertising device comprising a circular frame, a motor carried thereby, means for suspending a bunch of'fruit centrally under said frame, and a fan operated by said motor andadapted to direct a blast down past and all around a bunch of fruit without striking the fruit.
2. A banana protecting and advertising device comprising a circular frame, a plate carried on the periphery thereof, a motor carried by said frame, means for suspending a bunch of fruit centrally under said'frame, and a fan operated by said motor and adapted to direct a blast of air past and all around a bunch of fruit without striking the fruit.
3. A banana protecting and advertising device comprising a frame, a motor carried centrally therein, means for suspending a. bunch of fruit centrally under said frame, and a fan driven by said motor and provided with curved and inclined blades adapted to force a blast of air down past and all around a bunch of fruit without touching the fruit.
In testimony whereof, I set my hand, this 18th day of May, 1922.
' IKE K. FRIEDMAN.
