ORLANDO JENNESS, OF ALTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
IMPROVEMENT IN VEHICLE-SPRINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,483, dated April 7, 1874; application led March 9, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORLANDO JnNNnss, of Alton, in the county of Belknap and State of- New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Springs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andA eXact description .of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, refer- Vence being had to thc accompanying drawings,
which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention. relates to an improvement in springs for vehicles; and it consists in an independent spring, which can be readily applied to vehicles of all kinds, and which iscomposed of a top and base plate, connected together by a number of rods, around which are placed coiled springs, the rods being made to move freely back and forth through the base-plate, whenever pressure is applied upon either plate, so as to bring the pressure upon the springs.v

Having thus described my invention, I claim- As an independent attachment to vehicles, a spring consisting of the top and base plates a c, rods d, which have a vertical play through one of the plates, and the coiled springs e, the parts being combined substantially as set forth.
