heating apparatus, and more particularly to improved means for positively and mechanically circulating and distributing hot air in connection with heating units or sys-.
- toms, thereby producing what are known as forced draughts.-
The primary object of the invention is to i provide a generally improved heating apparatus or system of the type or class indicated which will be simple in construction, cheap of manufacture and eflicient in use.
A further and very important object is the provision of an improved form and arrangement of hot air accumulating and distributing chamber and pipes or conduits adapted to be readily installed or connected to heating units and systems already installed as well as to form a componentipart of a new hot air heating system.
' A further and important object is the provision of an improved form and arrangement of mechanical air circulating device of the motor. driven blower type and in which the motor is mounted exterior to the hot air accumulating and distributing chamber r manifold.
A still further object is the provision of a motor driven mechanical air circulating device which will not in any way interfere" with the ordinary operation of the furnace or heating system when the device is at rest or out of operation.
With the above mentioned and other ends in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts, herelnafte-r described, illustrated -in-some of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of an ordinary hot air furnace unitor heating system equippedwith the improved air circulating and distributin constructed and used-asjm attac ment.

Fig. 3, a fragmentary sectional view of a modification incorporated in or forming a component part of the upper or dome portion of an ordinary furnace casing.

The heating unit or'furnace =1, may be of any suitable and convenient construction and so likewise the surrounding casing 2, the latter, in the present instance, being provided with-the usual distributor dome 2 and the usual hot air distributing pipes or conduits 3.

conduits 4;. The supply pipes or conduits may communicate with any suitable source of supply, as for example,-fresh air exterior to the building to be heated or communicating with suitable return pipes leading from the base portions of the rooms heated by the distributing pipes or conduits 3. i
As a means of providing for a forced circulation and distribution of airin connection with a furnace structure of conventional-form, a manifold 5 is provided, said manifold 5 being provided with hot air or .heat distributing conduits 6 and communicating with the top or dome portion ofthe casing 2. The manifold 5 provides a hotair or heat accumulating and equalizing chamber f) above the motor driven air circulating device 7. The air circulating device '7 is preferably in the specific form of a blower fan, as indicated inFig. 1 of the drawings, a
said fan 7 being mounted on a vertically ar rangedshaft 8. The fan shaft 8 extends through the manifold 5 so that the motor 9 may be arranged on the exterior of the manifold casing, as shown. 6. It will be seen also that the' pipes 6 intersect the base portions of the main distributing pipes or conduits 3 and it will also be apparent that when the air circulating device 7 is thrown out of operation or is at rest the furnace will be permitted to function in the ordinary manner.
In the form shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings the air distributing pipes 3 are dispensed with, the heat accumulating and distributing chamber 5 leading directly to a sin le set of air distributed conduits or pipes 6 or use in lieu of the pipes or conduits 3 and 6, shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. In this form the air circulating device is in the specific form of an ordinary fan 7 in stead of a fan of the blower type as shown in Fig. l of the drawings.
Having thus described some of the embodiments of my invention, without havingattempted to set forth all the forms in which it may be made, or all the modes of its use,
what I claim and desire to secure byLet means for mechanically causing a circulation of air 'throu h said casing and over said furnace, a manifold provided with hot air distributing pipes a-ndhaving a hot air accumulating and equalizing chamber, and means for driving said mechanical air circulating means from the exterior of said manifold.
2. In a heating apparatus, a casing, a heating unit arranged therein,'an air sup ply conduit leading to said casing, a manifold forming a heat accumulating and equalizing chamber above said heating unit,
heat distributor pipes leading from said manifold, and motor driven means below said chamber for creating a forced draught of heated air through. said supply conduitand distributor pipes and accumulating the same within said chamber.

In a heating apparatus',,the combination with a casing, and a heating unit are ranged within the casing, and air conduits leading to said casing; of a communicating manifold forming a hot air accumulating and equalizing chamber above said heating unit, hot air distributing pipes leadin from said manifold, and means above sai heating unit and below said chamber for creating a forced draught through said distributing pipes and accumulating hot air within said equalizing chamber.

In an apparatus of the character. described, a heating unit, a surrounding casing including a source ofai-r supply at its Y fold and chamber, an air circulating device between said heating unit and said chamber of said manifold, and a motor above and extenor of said manifold for driving said air circulating device.

In .an apparatus of the character described, a heating unit, a casing surrounding the same and provided with a hot air accumulating dome, a. source of air supply leading to said casing, hot air distributing conduits leading from said dome, a manifold arranged above and communicating with said dome and'provided with a hot air accumulating and equalizing chamber, a motor driven air circulating device between the. latter and said chamber, 'and radially extending hot air distributing conduits leading from said manifold into said hot air distributing pipes.

In an apparatus of the character described, a heatin unit, a surroundi casing provided'wi i a hot air a'ccumu ating dome, a source of air supply for said casing, hot air distributing conduits leadin from said dome, a hot air equalizing-mani old including a deflector arranged above and. com- 5 municating with said dome, an air circulating device between the latter and said manifold, a driving shaft leading from said air circulating device to the exterior of said manifold, a motor on said manifold connected to said shaft, and heat distributing conduits leading from said chamber to said heat distributing conduits leading from said dome.
