Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIon,
PATRICK H. DEAN," OF \VINQHESTER, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN PHOTOG'RAPHIC VARNISHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,449, dated April 7,1874; application filed February 25, 1874.

albumen on the paper, gives a permanent gloss or polish to the photograph.
I have found by actual tests that the varnish above described is superior to any 110w in most general use, and doubt not that it will be generally adopted by the profession when once known.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described compound for varnishing photographs, consisting of a mixture of castile-soap, glycerine, alcohol, and liquid ammonia, in about the proportions and prepared substantially in the manner specified.
In testimony whereof I -have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PATRICK H. DEAN.
Witnesses O. S. KEL EY, JNo. E. NEFF.
