MULTIPLE-RAZOR-BLADE HOLDER.

Be. it known that I, CHARLES E. M.\'r THEWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Providence. in the count of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improve.- ments in Multiple-Razor-Blade Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to holders for a plurality of razor blades. The primary objects of my invention are to enable the use of double edged blades in this type of holders; to afford the advantages heretofore requiring the use of four blades in a structure using but two blades; and to attain these ends in a simple, compact. portable, inexpensive, and easily operable structure.

My invention consists, therefore, in the means for attaining the enumerated objects falling within the scope of the appended claims.

My holder as herein illustrated includes a casing comprising two clamping members A and A, the former consisting of an ob lon-g transversely arcuate plate (1 having upon its ends depending ears I) provided with central perforations c. The member A consists of. similar oppositely directed parts a. b, and c. The vertical members 6 and 7) are in slidable engagement with each other. Longitudinally arranged along the middle of the clamping plates are inwardly directed posts d, in this instance three in number. adapted to pass slidably through corresponding holes 0 through the middle of transversely curved comb plates F and F. identical in all respects, having teeth f and f on both their respective lateral edges adapted to contact with each other. and extending laterally beyond the plates a and a at both sides.

. Adapted to be interposed between the guard plates and the comb plates are two razor blades H and H of identical construction. These consist of thin resilient material each with lateral cutting edges h and with a central longitudinal series of openings Z adapted to loosely receive therethrough the posts at. Normally the blades are flat, as shown in Figure 7. When interposed between the clamping plates and comb plates, as shown in Figure 4, the blades assume an arcuate shape and the edges project beyond the clamping plates and slightly overlap the inner end of the comb tooth.

a To assemble the disassembled parts, the flat blades H are laid upon the upturned faces of the members A and A with their openings 6 in alignment with the posts (I. Whereupon the pivot members I are snapped therethrough and the blades are clamped in arcuate form tightly held between the clamping plates and comb plates. By pivoting the holder body upon the members 9 all four edges h of the blades H may be made successively available for use. By manually sliding the bars 72 outwardly the members q are withdrawn, and the blades are readily removed.

I claim 1. In a razor blade holder of the type set forth, clamping members comprising plates, and oppositely disposed ears at right angles to the plates and slidable relatively to each other and provided with perforations adapted to register with each other in clamped position, comb plates embraced by the guide plates and extending laterally therefrom provided with longitudinally disposed holes,

posts on the first plates registering in the holes, and pivot members 1n the perforations.

2. In a razor blade holder of the type set forth, clamping members comprising plates and oppositely disposed relatively slidable ears upon the ends of the plates provided with perforations adapted to register with each other when in clamped position, posts upon the plates, comb plates intermediate the plates provided with longitudinally disposed holes adapted to receive the posts and projecting laterally beyond the first plates, and resilient double edged blades interposed between the first plates and the comb plates and extending laterally beyond the first plates, and provided with openings to admit the posts, and pivot members in the perforations for clamping the blades.

3. In a razor blade holder of the type set forth, clamping members comprising transversely curved oblong clamping plates, and

, weaves oppositely disposed ears slidably engaging each other upon the ends of the plates provided with perforations adapted to register with each other in clamped position, longitudinally disposed posts upon the plates, oppositely disposed transversely; arched comb plates adjacent each other bet'i veen the 30 v clamping plates and engaged by the posts, lateral teeth upon the comb plates projecting beyond the clamping plates and the teeth on one plate engagin the teeth of the other plate, resilient double edged blades compressed between the clamping plates and comb plates provided Withopenings to admit the posts and extending beyond the clamping plates upon the comb plates, and pivot members slidably mounted in the perforations for locking the blades in compressed position.
