To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that'l, CHARLES Davmorr,
a citizen of the United States, residing at the case for inspection and repair.
Another object of my invention is to provide a new and improved form of wrist watch consisting of a case portion, a cover portion and a movement carrying or hearing portion which will be so connected that the device can be uickl and economically manufactured an can e easily inspected or repaired.
Another object of my invention is to provide a watch, and more particularly a wrist I .watch, of the type above specified which can be used in combination with a chain or a ribbon for holding iton the wrist of the wearer.
Another object of my invention is .to provide a new and improved watch, and more particularly a wrist watch, in which the cover portion .and the movement-bearing portion are urged away from the case portion by means of springs and are-normally held in place by a suitable latch.
Other objects of my invention will be set forth in the following description and drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment thereof.

The watch has a case portion 2 having the. shape shownin Fig. 3 and provided with lugs or brackets 4 havin the shape shown in Fig. 2 and in Fig. 3. aid lugs or brackets '4 can be connected to the case portion 2 by any suitable method,
such as soldering and the like.

The cover portion 1 of the watch is provided with a suitable transparent glass or crystal top T, and it is provided with perforated ears 5 which are secured thereto by any suitable method, such as soldering. The movement carrying member 3 is also provided with similar erforated ears 5. The
parts are so dimensioned thatthe ears 5 of the cover portion 1,for example, snugly fit against the brackets 4 provided at one end of the casing 2 so that the members 4 and 5 can be connected by means of a pintle 8 which is rigidly secured to the lugs 4 by hammering the ends of the said pintle 8 so as to enlarge them'so as to give the cfi'ect of a rivet.
.The pintle 8' is provided with a torsion spring 7 and one end thereof is bent over so as to firmly hold on to one of the brackets 4 before the said spring 7 is put under'torsion. After'this is done and before thesleeve 6 is applied, the other end of thesaid spring 7 is secured to the opposite ear 5 and bent into position, as shown in Fig. 4 so that it remains in said position and the spring 7 is preferably placed under slight torsion when this'is done so that the saidspring 7 tends to force the cover 1 into the position shown in Fig. 3 and against the ends 4 which prevent the-said cover part 1 from being moved backwards away afr'om the vertical position. A similar spring 7 mounted in a similar manner operates on the movement-carrying portion 3.
The movement-carrying portion fits directly into the case 2 but projects above the said case and it is provided with the ordinary crown C for winding the watch. The cover portion 1 is provided with a notch or races so that it can fit snugly over the movement carrying portion and it is also provided at the outer end thereof with'a spring latch 9 which snaps over the case 2 so as to firmly hold the parts in position. Of course by releasing the catch or latch 9 the parts are automatically moved. into the position The springs 7 are covered by means of sleeves 6 which are applied after the before mentioned parts have been assembled.
