TROLLEY CONVEYER.

To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Jnssn E. MCBRIDE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in" Trolley Conveyers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to trolley conveyers and refers more particularly to the power propelled type of trolley conveyer. One of the objects of the invention is to provide a trolley suspended from a track and secured to apropelling chain so that the trolley will not be merely propelled by the chain through a projecting finger or pusher. Another object is the provision of an attachment link rigidly secured intermediate its ends to the trolley and having provision for suspending a load in substantially the vertical plane of the point of support of the trolley upon the track. Further objects of the invention reside in the novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as more fully hereinafter set forth.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a trolley conveyer embodying my invention;
Figure 2 is a sectional end elevation thereof.
1 is the overhead track in the form of an I-beam and 2 is a trolley suspended from the track. This trolley has the side frames 3 and 4 preferably of T-shaped cross section and the rollers 5 and 6 resting upon the lower flanges of the track and. journalled u on the stub shafts 7 and 8 respectively w ich are secured in the enlarged upper ends of the side frames 3 and 4 respectively.
9 is the propelling chain extending longitudinally below the track 1 and secured to the trolley 2 for moving the same alongthe track. The chain is secured to the trolley through the attachment/link 10 which has the spaced side members 11 and 12 connected at one end by the integral barrel 13 through which the link connecting in 14 asses for securing an end of an a jacent link to the attachment link. The opposite ends of the side members 11 and 12 are spaced apart a sufficient distance to receive the barrel end of the adjacent link and are provided with apertures for receiving the link connecting pin. The upper side member 11 has the upwardly extending flange 15 which extends between the lower ends of the side frames 3 and 4 of the trolley, these side frames converging downwardly and having their lower ends spaced a suflicient distance to receive the upwardly extending flange. 16 is a bolt passing through the lower ends of the side frames 3 and 4 and the upwardly extending flange 15, for securing the side frames and the attachment link rigidly together. The lower edges of the side frames engage the upper side member 11 of the-attachment link at points on both sides of the bolt 16 so that relative rotative movement of the trolley and attaohment link is impossible.
17 is an integral clevis portion depending from the lower side member 12 of the attachment link and having the hole 18 therein for engaging the load suspending member, this hole being in vertical alignment with the points of contact of the rollers 5 and 6 upon the lower flanges of the I-beam track. 19 is a transversely extending reinforcing wall between the upper and lower side members 11 and 12 and vertically above the opening 18 whereby the suspended load is transmitted from the clevis portion through the lower side member, transverse reinforcing wall, and upper side member of the attachment link, the side frames of the trolley and then through the trolley wheels to the lowerflanges of the I-beam track.
From the above description, it will be readily seen that I have provided a simple construction of power fpropelled trolley conveyer which permits 0 the use of an I-beam track which 1s so constructed that the trolley will be maintained in substantially its vertical position at all times owing to the fact that this trolley is rigidly secured to the attachment link of the propelling chain. Also, it will be seen that the suspended load is carried through the attachment link and vertically to the point of support of the trolley upon the track so that the propelling chain pivot pins, will not be subjected to any stresses caused b eccentric loading. Furthermore, distortion of the attachment link tending wall between the upper and lower side members, this wall transferring the load directly through the link to the trolley.
What I claim as my invention is: H
1. In a conveyer, the combination with a track, of a trolley suspended therefrom, an attachment link rigidly secured to said trolley below said track, and a clevis upon said attachment link for suspending a load in substantially a vertical plane passing through the point of support of said trolley upon said track.
2. In a conveyer, the combination with a track, of a trolley suspended therefrom, and a propelling chain for said trolley having an attachment link rigidly secured to the lower end of said trolley, said attachment link having an integral clevis portion for suspending a load in substantially the vertical plane of the point of support of said trolley upon said track.
3. In a conveyer, the combination with a track, of a trolley suspended therefrom and including spaced side frames, and a chain attachment link secured intermediate its ends between said side frames.
4. In a conveyer, the combination with a track, of a trolley suspended therefrom and including downwardly converging side a load, and means for directly transferring the load through said attachment link to said trolley.
6. In a conveyer, the combination with a track, of a trolley suspended therefrom and an attachment link comprising spaced upper and lower side members, said upper side member being secured intermediate its ends to said trolley and said lower side member being provided with means in vertical alignment with the connection between said trolley and upper side member for suspending a load, said attachment link also having a transversely extending integral wall between said upper and lower side members in vertical alignment with the connection between said trolley and upper side member.
