Be it known that I, EDMUND R. B'AnANY, a citizen of the United States, residingin the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, city and State'of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flash-Light'Bulb Supports, of which the following is a specification;
This invention relates to :flashlight' bulb supports.
An important object of my invention is to provide a support of the character mentioned, which is so constructed as to relieve the electric bulb from any excessive shock or impact which may be imparted thereto upon an accidental, or otherwise, undue longitudinal displacement of the battery within the flashlight casing. V V A further object of my invention is to provide a support of the character -m'en- 'tioned in the form of a unitary structure, which is inexpensive to manufacture, easily assembled and reliable in use.

In the drawings, wherein for the 'pur pose of illustration is shown what I at present consider the preferred form of my'invention, the numeral 5 indicates anelongated casing or housing, adapted toreceive the-rein the usual form of battery 6', having a carbon electrode 7. The casing, as shown, is provided with a conventionaliorm of head 8 having screw threaded engagement with .the casing 5 and provided with the conventional type of lens 9 and lens ring 10.
The support embodying my invention is illustrated as a whole by the numeral 11 and is adapted to be suitably retained within with av central opening 20, to receive the central contact 14: adapted to engage a resilient'tong'ue 21', struck up from a metallic conductor plate-22, with which is associated a similar plate 23;, having a resilient tongue 24 struck therefrom, adapted to electrically engage the central contact 7 of the battery.
The plates and 23 are provided at corresponding ends with openings 25 and 26, re-
spectively, to accommodate rivets 27, which 7 are utilized to retain the plates in their respective positions upon the washer 19,-
the rivets being passed through the insulating washer 15, and relatively large openings 28, provided in the plate 18, the openings 28 being somewhat larger than the rivets 27 for the purpose of preventing short circuiting between the battery 6 and bulb 12 as will be readily appreciated.
The circuit through the bulb 12 is adapted to be controlled by the usual form of switch 29, carried by the casing 5 to which is suitably connected a conductor 30 having elec- ,trical engagement with the plate 18 at or relatively near the peripheral edge thereof. In tracing the circuit through the lamp, it will be observed that the current passes from the electrode 7 through the resilient tongue 24, the plates-22 and 23, the resilient tongue '21, into the lamp 12 through the central contact 14, and out of the same by way oi the outer contact 13, from whence it passes pbnductor 30, which is adapted to be electhrough-the sleeve 17, and plate 18, to the trically connected with or disconnected from the usual form of zinc electrode of the battery by means of the circuit controlling switch 29.

it .is apparent that when the bulb 12 is run the same is permitted to slightly yield when a further thrust is exerted thereupon, and
that such resiliency as the tongue 21 might sult from undue displacement of the battery 6 within the container 5, since the tongue 24 is adapted to yield to a material degree, due to its inherentresiliency, when a longitudinal thrust is exerted upon the battery in the direction of p the flashlight head.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said bulb and batter comprising a plate having a screw threa ed sleeve adapt ed to receive said bulb, a pair of plates having electric connection with each other resilient tongues carried by said plates, one of said, tongues being-adapted to electrical ly engage the central contact. of said bun,
whereas the other of said tongues is adapted to electrically engage one 'ofthe electrodes of said battery, and means for insulating the first'mentioned plate from said pair of plates.
2. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said bulb and battery, comprising'a plate having a screw threaded sleeve adapted to receive said bulb, a' pair of plates having electric connection with each other, resilient tongues carried by said plates, one of. said tongues being adapted to electrically' engage the central contact of said bulb whereas the otherof said tongues is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery, means for insulating the first mentioned plate from said pairof plates, and means for electrically connectin'g the first mentioned plate with said battery.
3.-In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate saidbulb and battery comprising an insulating disc, a plate associated with said disk and having a screw threaded portion adapted to receive said bulb, and a pair of electrically connected resilient tongues associated with said disk, one of which is adapted to engage the central contact of said bulb whereas the other is adapted to electrically engage one .of the electrodes of said battery.
41. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said bulb and battery comprising an insulating disc, a plate associated with said disk and having a screw threaded portion adapted to receive said bulb, a pair of electrically connected resilienttongues associated with said disk, one of which is adapted to engage the central contact of said bulb whereas the other is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery, and means for insulating said tongues from said plate.
5. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said bulb and battery comprising an insulating disc, a plate associated with said disk and having a screw' threaded portion adaptedto receive said bulb, a pair of. electrically connected resilient tongues associated with said disk, one of which is adapted to engage the central contact of said bulb vhereas the other is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery,
means for insulating said tongues fromsaid plate, and means for electrically connecting said plate with said battery.

In a flashlight having an electrical bulb and battery, a support for said bulb comprisin a disc of insulatin material, a plate liaving a screw threade sleeve adapted to receive said bulb, a pair of metallic stripshaving resilient tongues struck therefrom, one ofwhich is adapted to electrical- 1y engage the central contact of said bulb whereas the other is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes "of said battery and-a second disc of insulatin material disposed between said plate an said metallic strips. and having an opening adapted to permit electrical contact between one of said tongues and the central contact of said bulb.
7. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said battery and bulb comprising a pair of electrically connected plates having con-tact elements struck therefrom, one of said contactelements being adapted to electrically engage the central contact oii said bulb whereas the other of said contact elements is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery, a plate associated with said pair of plates and having a. screwthreaded sleeve adapted to receive said bulb and an'insulating member disposed intermediate said pair of plates and said plate having said screwthreaded sleeve associated therewith.
8. In a flashlight having a bulb and a battery; a bulb support disposed intermediate said battery and bulb comprising a pair of electrically connected plates having contact elements struck therefrom, one of said contact elements being adapted to electri- "cally engage the central contact of said bulb whereas the other of said contactelements is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery, a plate associat' ed with said pair of plates and having a screwthreaded sleeve adapted to receive said bulb and an insulating member disposed intermediate said pair of plates and said plate having said screwthreaded sleeve associated therewith, said insulating mem' her being provided with an opening adapted to receive the central contact of said bulb whereby electrical connection is established directly between said bulb and one of said contact elements. a
9. In a flashlight having an electric bulb and battery, a bulb support disposed intermediate said battery and bulb comprising a pair of metallic plates arranged one upon the other and having contact elements stinck therefrom, one of said elements being adapted to electrically engage the central contral contact of said bulb Whereas the other of said elements is adapted to electrically engage one of the electrodes of said battery, an insulating member superimposed upon said plates, a metallic plate superimposed upon said insulating member and having a bulb receiving socket, an insulating member superimposed upon said metallic plate and surrounding said bulb receiving socket and ineans for unitingi said pair of plates, said insulating members and said metallic plate together in a unitary structure.
