COMBINED EDGER AND FORM CLEANER FOR CONCRETE WORK.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN A. DALY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Castle, in the county of Lawrence and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combined Edgers and Form Cleaners for Concrete Work, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to concrete finishing tools and more particularly to a combined edger and form cleaner.

The primary object of this invention resides in the provision of a combined edger and form cleaner for concrete work, which is adapted to reduce the number of employes required to finish the edges of con crete work, increase the amount of work of each individual and save the wages of the labor thus dispensed with.

Another object of this invention resides in the provision of a combined edger and form cleaner, for concrete work, so constructed that the edges of the concrete and adjacent forms can be simultaneously trim med and cleaned as the tool is advanced.

A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a combined edger and form cleaner, for concrete work. which is adapted to simultaneously trim the edges of the concrete and adjacent form therefor as the operator of the tool advances in a walking position.

l/Vith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of elements to be hereinafter specifically set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the appended claims.

Fig. 1 is a front view of a combined edger and form cleaner, as constructed in accordance with this invention, the same being in operative position on a concrete walk and its form.

In the present embodiment of this invention, the numeral 5 designates, in general, a combined edger and form cleaner, for simultaneously trimming the edges of concrete work and cleaning the adjacent form thereof and is formed to embody a body portion 6 having one of its forward corners cut out as at 7.

Extending longitudinally beneath the bpdy portion of this tool is a cutting blade 8 adapted to sever the rough edges of con crete work adjacent their forms and, while this cutting blade is herein formed to provide round corners ofni the finished concrete, other configurations may be adopted to otherwise finish the concrete edges.

The aforesaid cut out corner 7 of this tool is surrounded on its inner side by a perpendicular flange 9 formed on the up per surface-of the body portion and has its outer surface so disposed as to align with the outer side of that portion of the cutting blade 8 which extends forwardly of the cut out corner, thus producing a smooth perpendicular wall from the lower edge of the cutting blade to the upper extremity of the flange.

The rear wall of the cut out corner 7 extends substantially at right angles to the perpendicular flange 9 as shown at 10 and, from the outer extremity of this right angular portion, it continues diagonally toward the rear edge of the tool as indicated at 11. This rear wall of the cut out corner 7 is beveled as indicated at 12 so the tool will readily cut its way through the accumulated concrete on the form and direct it out of its path as the tool is advanced.

Formed or otherwise secured on the body portion of the-tool is a handle 13 which is preferably extended diagonally to the rear so the operator of the tool can push it forwardly as he advances in a walking position.

To facilitate operating this tool with the minimum effort and properly advance it over the concrete, the front and rear lower edges of the body portion are rounded as indicated at 14 Vith this invention fully set forth, it is manifest that a concrete working tool has been produced which will simultaneously finish the edges of concrete work and clean the forms thereof and, through the adoption of this tool, the use of a multiplicity of individual tools are dispensed with and the cost of their operation saved.

Having thus described this invention What I- claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is: v

1. A combined concrete edger andform cleaner comprising a body portion having one of its forward corners cut out, a side and rear flange forming the inner and rear Walls of the cut out portion of the body, the latter of which is partially directed diagonally outward, a cutting blade beneath the body portion and a handle carried by 10 the body portion.

2. A combined concrete edger and form cleaner comprising a body portion having one of its forward corners cut out, a cutting blade beneath the body portion and a handle 15 carried by the body portion.
