R. STEINER ET AL TOY FIGURE April 1 1924. 1,488,626
Filed Dec. 30, 1921 PetentedApr. 1, 19.24;.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIGNORS TO THE FIB-M: WELSCH & (30.,
TUNG, OF SONNEBERG, GERMANY.
GESELLSCI-IAFT MIT IBESCHR'ANKTER HAF- TOY FIGURE.
Application filed December 30, 1921. Serial No. 525,975.
To all 107mm it may concern.
Be it known that we, RICHARD S'rEINnR and JoHANNns PULvnRMiiLLER, both German citizens, and residing at Neufang, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Figures, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to toy figures and more particularly to toy animals on wheels provided with means for producing a sound such as a bellows arranged within the figure. According. to the present invention, the movable part of the bellows or other sound producing device is loaded with a weight or spring and the string for pulling the figure is attached, thereto in such mannor that when a pull is exerted on the string, the bellows will be contracted and produce a sound.
In consequence thereof the animal will be silent as long as it is being pulled along while, on the pull on the string ceasing its voice is suddenly heard. By slightly pulling and releasing the string, the voice can be produced also; without moving the figure. It can also be produced automatically by placing the figure in such a position that the means for actuating the bellows etc. combination of the two are rendered operative.
In the drawings aflixed to this specification and forming part thereof, a device embodying our invention is illustrated diagrammatically by way of example in longitudinal section.
Within the body a Of'illlfi animal there is arranged a sound producing device of a well known kind comprising a bellows Z) and pipes 0. One plate (Z of the bellows is fixed while the other plate e is movable and connected with the pull string h, which passes over a roller 2' and through an eye is. hen a pull is exerted on the string h, the resistance of the figure suffices to extend the bellows 1) against the action of a weight 7 and a spring g. As soon as the tension is released, the bellows Z2 is compressed by the spring 9 or the weight f and produces a sound.
Obviously only the wei ht or only the spring 9 may be provided.
Vie wish it to be understood that we do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described, for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
WVe claim:
1. Toy figure comprising in combination, asounder fixed to the toy figure, a movable operating member forming part of said sounder, means connected with said member for causing it to operate the sounder and a string for pulling the toy figure along, said string being attached to said member, so as to counteract said means.
2. Toy figure comprising in combination, a bellows-sounder having one wall fixed to the toy figure, means connected with the other Wall of said sounder for actuating said sounder and a string for pulling the toy figure along, said string being connected with said other wall so as to counteract said means.
3. Toy figure comprising in combination, a bellows-sounder having one wall fixed to the toy figure, means connected with the other wall of said sounder for moving it relatively to the fixed wall and thereby actuating the sounder and a string for pulling the toy figure along, said string being connected with said movable wall so as to prevent its being moved by said means.
In testimony whereof we atlix our signatures.
RICHARD STEINER. J OHANNES PULVERMULLER.
