The object of my invention is to simplify and improve the towel cabinet shown and.

described in my pendin application for Letters Patent of the United States, Serial No'. 262,658, filed November 15, 1918.

My present practice is to dispense with all unnecessary parts toreduce the cost of manufacture and also for the purpose of eliminating any mechanism which might become easily disarranged and interfere with the smooth, convenient operation of the cabinet.

A further object is to combine simplicity of construction and ease of operation with a feedin arrangement which will wind up thesoi ed portion of the towel proportionately with the unwinding of the clean ortion and at all times prevent contact o the clean and soiled portions to the end that the device will be thoroughly sanitary under all conditions of use.

Other objects of the invention will appear from the following detailed description.

In the drawings, 2 represents the side walls of the cabinet and 3 and 4 cross bars at the back ofthe cabinet and 5 .a cross bar-at the front thereof. The cabinet is open at the top and bot-tom and may be provided with screw ,e 1es 6 for hanging it on the wall. The side wa ls are preferably provided with vertical ideways 7 extending to a point near the otbom of the cabinet and a frame 8 is mounted to slide vertically between said side walls and has bearings forfeed rollers 9 and 10 mounted therein, one of said rollers having an operatin knob 11 which projects through a vertica slot 12 in one of the side walls. The shafts of the feed rolls are provided with sprockets indicated by dotted lines in Figure 3 and a drive chain 13 engages said sprockets for operating the feed rolls simultaneously and at the same speed, a dog 14 being provided to prevent backward movement of the feed rolls. These rolls are of the same diameter so that the winding and unwinding rolls will be operated at uniform speed. f

having gudgeons 16 adapted to slide in the' guides 7 and normally rest inthe lower ends thereof. 17 is the soiled towel roll, having gudgeons 18 adaptedl to slide in the upper The side walls are also provided with substantially horizontal guideways 19 communicating with the guideway 7 a short-'distance above the lower ends thereof for the purpose of allowing the convenient insertion andremoval of the lower or clean towel roll without the necessity of removing the soiled towel roll and the feed rolls from the upper portion of the guideways. The frame supporting the feed rolls is preferably provided with little knobs or balls 20 adapted to slide on the inner face of the walls 2 and prevent the frame from tilting while the cabinet is in use.

I prefer to provide a cross bar 21 at the lower end of the cabinet to brac-e and strengthen the same, and the loop of towel extends down under this bar and up in the rear of the cabinet to the soiled towelroll in the top thereof. To prevent the person inserting the clean towel in the cabinet and connecting it with the soiled towel roll from passing the end of the towel over and adjacent the upper feed roll, I provide upright bars 22 mounted in the rear of the feed roll carrying frame and extending over the lower port-ion thereof to the top of the cabinet. These bars are so positioned that when a clean towel is put in the cabinet, it will be necessary for the operator to carry the loose end of the towel up between these bars and the rear wall of the cabinet and over the top horizontal guide bar before he can attachl the towel to the soiled towel roll.

In using the cabinet, the clean towel roll with the towel wound thereon is placed 1n the lower portion of the guideways and un'- rolled suiciently to form a loop below the cabinet and the loose end of the towel car-i ried to the rear of the cabinet then up over' the guide bar. to the soiled towel roll in the top of the cabinet, the weight of the soiled towel roll and the feed rolls being suficient to retard the unwinding of the clean towel roll, enabling the user to revolve the roll sufficiently to obtain the desired supply of clean towel, or he may operate the knob and revolve the feed rolls to obtain the same result. As-fast as the clean towel roll is unwound, a corresponding portion through the action of the feed rolls will be wound on the roll becomes lighter, the weight thereon will increasek due to the accumulation of the soiled towel on the. roll in the top of the cabinet.

l claim as my invention:

l. A towel cabinet comprising a casing having guideways therein, a soiled towel roll and a clean towel roll movable in said guideways, a frame and feed rolls in said frame mounted between said soiled towel and clean towel rolls, a driving connection between said feed rolls, and means mounted on said frame and contacting with the side walls of the cabinet for guiding said frame in its vertical movement and prevent tilting thereof.

A towel cabinet comprisingl a casing having guide-ways therein,` a soiled towel roll and a clean towel roll movable in said guide-ways, feed rolls mounted to contact respectively with said clean towel `roll and said soiled towel roll for driving them simultaneously, a loop of towel fromv the clean towel roll being extended between said roll and the b ack of the cabinet to the soiled towel roll, and bars vertically arranged in the rear of the soiled towel roll and between which bars and the wall of the cabinet the soiled towel is fed to said soiled towel roll. ln witness whereof, l have hereuntov set my hand this 4th day of May 1920.
