G. W. HOWES GAS STOVE Filed July 19. 1923 /Ue W. /oryw A 3 @ff/"wmf Patented Feb. 5, 1924. Y* l` GEORGE w; Howes, or '-DowAsrAc," iiicrrreniv, Assicivon e I remmer nownernc, acrilici-iman.py 4
To THE BECKWITH COM- GAS STOVE.
Application led July 19,
To aZZ rwhom it may concern.'
Be it knownV that I, GEORGE W. I-Iowns a citizen of the United States, residing at Dowagiac, county of Cass, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas Stoves, of which the following is a specification. V
This invention relates to improvements in gas stoves.
The main object of this invention is t0 provide an improved gas stove which is especially adapted for use in burning of natural gas and which provides for the escape of the products of combustion from the open top section and also the oven section with which the stove is provided.
Further objects, and objects pertaining to details are economies of construction and operation of my improvements will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this applicatlon, in which:
Fig. I is a front perspective view of a gas stove embodying the features of my invention, the discharge flue for the open top section being indicated by dotted lines.
Fig. II is a detail vertical section on a line corresponding to line 2 2 of Fig. I.
Fig. III is a detail vertical section on a line corresponding to line 3--3 of Fig. I.
Fig. IV is a detail vertical section on a line corresponding to line 4 4 of Fig. III.
In the drawing the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines and similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts in all of the views.
Referring to' the drawing, the main frame 1 of theustove is designed to support the oven designated generally by the numeral 2 and the open top section designated generally by the numeral 3. The oven comprises spaced outer and inner top walls 4 and 5 respectively, outer and inner spaced bottom walls Gand 7 respectively, spaced outer and inner rear walls 8 and 9 respectively, and
1923. serial No. 652,503.
also correspondingly spaced outer and inner side walls 1() and 11.
The space between the walls 6 and 7 provides a burner chamber 12 for the burner 13. The spaces between the top, side and rear walls provide side, top and rear circulating iiues 14, 15 and 16, respectively, communicating with the burner chamber so that the products of combustion pass around the oven. These lues are provided with a iiue discharge 17 at the rear of the top, the discharge pipe or Hue being omitted.
The open top section 3 has a closed burner chamber 18 for the burners shown conventionally at 19. The top of this section is provided with lids 20. A discharge flue 21 opens into this burner chamber, 18 at 22, the flue being disposed in the rear circulating passage 16 and its upper end being preferably disposed below the flue opening 17.
With the parts thus arranged I provide the burner chamber 18 with an eiiective discharge connection which does not in any wayinterfere with the flue connections for the oven. The structure is neat and attractive in appearance.
My improved gas stove is especially designed by me for the burning of natural gas, although it will be understood that it is desirable for use in other relations where ilue connections for all the burners are desired.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination in a gas stove, of an oven comprising spaced inner and outer top, bottom, rear and side walls providing a burner chamber below the oven and communicating rear, top and side circulating passages, there being a flue dischargeat the rear of the outer topvwall, a second burner chamber disposed at the side of said oven and provided with a grid top, and a discharge flue for said second burner chamber disposed between the said spaced rear walls and extending upwardly therein with its upper end adjacent the said flue discharge of said oven.
2. The combination in a gas stove, of an oven comprising spaced inner and outer top, rear and side walls providing a burner chamber below the oven and communicatin rear, top and side circulating passages an Miti having aue discharge, a second burner being` a Hue discharge for said passage, a chamberv disposed at the side of said oven burner chamber disposed at the side of said 10 and provided with a grid top, and a disoven and provided with a grid top, and a charge flue for said second burner chamber discharge flue for said second burner charn- 5 disposed between the said spaced rear Walls. ber disposed in said circulating passage.
3. The combination in a gas stove, of an In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set oven comprising spaced inner and outer my hand. Walls providing a circulating passage, there GEORGE W. HOWES. [n 8.]
