Be. it known that I, Louis FourAN, a citizen of Hungary, residing at New York,

-in thecounty of New York and. State of' New York, have invented certain new and vuseful Improvements in Shavin 'of which the following is a speci cation.

Brushes,

This invention relates generally to brushes,

' having particular' reference to a brush in which are embedied means for feeding the material used in connection with the brush,

upon the desired surface, the invention'being' intended more particularly for embodiment in shaving brushes.

The invention has for a 'general object the provision of a novel and simple construction whereby shaving cream contained in a' flexible container. within the toothbrush handle, may be'fed tothe brush bristles. v

A further object of the invention is the provision of a subsidiary means for completely discharging the paste from the feed passage through the brush handle.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects andadvantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings,

In constructing my improved brush I provide a cylindrical block 10,- in which are set the bristles 11 of the material, and in a General arrangement, common 4to shaving brushes. Leading centrally through this block 10 from end to end thereof is a passage 12, the bristles being grouped around the exit end of this passage, as indicated in Fig. 2, leaving a central space 13 into which the shaving cream is discharged.

lthe latter having a diminished rear eXten-'A sion 17 over which the front end of the casing l-engages. The casing 16 is secured inplace by meansof a collar 18 screwed' on the block 10 and having an inwardly projected rear end which bears on an outturned flange 19 on the front end of the caslng.

through-a pair of'longitudinal slots' 27 in the casing 16, and uniting with a thimble 28'slidable on the casing.

The thimble is adapted to be engaged, to move the follower along the casing, by a barrel 30 which freely surrounds the latter and the thimble. The thimble is eXt'eriorly screw threaded, while the barrel is correspondingly interiorly screw threaded from end to end, the threads inthe barrel enl gaging the threads on the thimble. As will be apparent, a relative rotary movement of the casing 16 and ,barrel 30 will cause, the follower to travel along the casing. The barrel 30 is held against longitudinal movement, at-its front end by engagement with the collar 18, and at its rear end lby a cap 34 which is screwed on the rear end of the casing 16. To cause the barrel to fit snugly on the casing a pair of collars 35 are fitted in opposite ends thereof to ll the space between the barrel and the casing.

To regulate'the flow of cream through the passage I mayprovide a rotary plug valve 36 in the block 10,'this valve having a head .37 for turning purposes and being provided constructionthe block is formed with a series of small passages 50 leading radially outward from the central passage 12 these passages 50 communicating with theV periphery'of the block at a point between .a fairof anges 51 formed, and spaced longltudinally a art, on the latter. f Stretched over these anges 51, and making air-tight contact therewith, is a sheet rubber drum 52. Each of the passages 50 has a one-way valve 53 therein which allows the air to pass into the central passage. Mounted on a cream through an orifice in the handle to one of the flanges is an air inlet valve 54 of ordinary construction. To discharge the cream from the passage 12, the drum 52 is compressed between the thumb andforeblock having au axial'passage leading therethrough, bristles on saidhead grouped about the mouth of said passage to 'leave a central space, a hollow handle lixed to said block and adapted to enclose a flexible shaving cream container, a follower in said handle,4

and means for moving said follower longitudinally of said handle, and a valve controlling the said passage through the said block, and a device communicating with the said passage for forcing air under pressure thereinto to expel the cream therefrom. o

2. A shaving brush comprising bristles,l a hollow handle adapted to enclose a collapsil: ble shaving cream container, means for collapsing the saidcontainer to discharge the the said bristles, and an air pressure device 1n communlcation with said orifice for exrpelling the cream from said orifice.

3. A shaving brush comprising bristles, a

hollowhandle adapted to enclose a collapsi-- ble shaving cream container, means for collapsing `the said container to discharge' the cream through an orifice in the handle to vsaid bristles, `and fantair pressure device inv communication with said orifice for. expelling the :cream from said orifice, said' air pressure device ln'cludlng a cylmdrical fiexible4 drum surroundingand spaced from the,- saidhandle.

A shaving brush comprising a circular block having an axial passage leading therethrough, bristles on saidA head grouped about 'the mouth of said passageto'leave a central space, a hollow handle fixedr tosaid block and adapted to enclose a iexibleshaving cream container, a follower in said handle,
