and are adapted to be electrically connected by means of a circuit closure 10, which is actuated by means of a push button 11 set in an opening formed in a side of the inembei 1, opposite the enlarged portion 3 of the central opening. The wires 6 and 8 connect with any source of electric supply, which may consist of a battery or other form of generator.
A plug 12 is adapted to make screw thread connection with the socket 4, and embodies a shell .13, which is screw threaded to match the screw threads of socket 4. A contact 14 is located centrally of the outer end of the plug 12 from which it is insulated as indicated at 14 and is adapted to make electrical connection with the contact 5 when the plug is screwed into the socket 4 to the limit of its movement. The shell 13 is adapted to make electrical connection with the socket 4. Two wires 15 and 16 have their ends connected with, respectively, the contact 14 and the shell 13, as shown niost clearly in Fig. 3. These wires extend along the sides of a rod 17, which may consist of any suitable insulating material. The rod 17 is connected at one end with the plug 12. An element resistance 18 connects the outer ends of the wires 15 and 1G and may consist of a short length of platinum wire or metal or alloy of any nature, which will become sufficiently heated on the passage of an electric current therethrough to effect the ignition of a fuse. This resistance 18 may be considered as the igniter proper, since it becomes red hot on the passage of the electric current therethrough, whereby it is enabled to light the fuse or other part to be ignited. A tube 19 incloses the rod 17, the wires 15 and 16 and the igniter 18, and projects a short distance beyond the igniter 1S. The tube 19 is electrically insulated from the wires 15 and 16. Suitable insulating material 20 is interposed bew tween the parts 17 and 19, and may cow sist of plaster of Paris or other binding material. The tube 19 is of such internal diameter as to readily receive. the fuse 21, which may be easily slipped into the outer end of the tube, when it is required to light the fuse. An element 22 is fitted upon the tube 19 exterior to the shell 13 and plug 12 and provides grip means carrying the igniter proper 18. The element 22 is grasped in the hand when screwing the plug 12 into. the socket 4 thereby connecting igniter 18 through ineinblr l to the source oiu electrical supply of current.
