Be it known that I, SAMUEL S. MATTHES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conductor Supports, ot which the Jfollowing is a speciiication.
My invention relates to conductor supports and has particular reference to that class of support used in connection with trolley conductors which cross each other, and which is designed to arrange for the current collector to pass the crossing point without being thrown out of electrical engagement with its conductor.
The object of my invention is to produce a device which is simple, ei'licient, light in construction and easy to install, and my invention resides in the new and novel con` struction, combination and relation of the various parts as herein disclosed and further set forth in the drawing accompanying this specification.

n the preferred construction embodying my invention I employ a lower member 1 and an upper member 2. The lower member is provided with a plurality of projecting studs 3 which are usually arranged in pairs diametrically opposite each other. Thel projecting studs are not continuous at the center, but are spaced apart, leaving a space or gap 4. Interposed in the center of the space or gap 4 is a projecting stud 5 which tends to shorten the gap between the di-amet`- rically disposed studs 3 in order to assist 1n guiding the current collector Jfrom one stud across to the opposite stud. The member 1 is also provided with a socketed recess and shown as internally threaded in Fig. 2. The projecting studs 8 are provided with other projecting studs 4 to which are secured tubular projecting arms 5 by means of rivets or pins 6. The upper member 2 is composed of two clamping members 7 and 8. Each member is provided with channels 9 and 10 respectively and angularly disposed to each other to receive the trolley wires 11 and 12. r1`he clamping members 7l and 8 are held in fixed relation to each other and to the trolley wires 11 and 12 by means ot' bolts or cap screws 13 as shown. l/Vhen the members 7 and 8 are in position the trolley wires are in contact with each other and disposed in their corresponding groove in the member 7 or 8 and are iixedly held there by the fastening members 13. The angularity of the grooves or channels 9 and 10 depends upon the angle at which the trolley wires cross each other. The same is true of the angular spacing of the members 3 of the lower member 1. c
l The member 7 is provided with a projecting member 14 which .in turn is provided with a socl'eted recess 15. Positioned in the recess 15 is the head oi' a bolt 16, the shank or' which projects downwardly therefrom and is secured in the threaded recess in the lower member 1. The side walls of the recess 15 correspond with the side faces or" the head or" the bolt 16 as shown in Fig. 7 so that the two may be rotated simultaneously. Interposed between the lower :tace of the head oic the bolt 1G and the adjacent face or wall or' the member 14 is a flat spring 17 which tends to hold the lower and upper members 1 and 2 in engagement with each other when in normal position.
To the outer ends of the members 5 is secured an end member 18 provided with a groove formed by means of the lips19 to receive the trolley wires 11 and 12. The lips 19 originally form a U shaped groove which is'readily applied to the trolley wire and when the lips are peened over as shown in Fig. 3 the end members 18 are securely attac-hed to the trolley wires. The end member 18 is providedk with a projecting stud 20 which is inserted Within the tubular arm and secured thereto by means of the pins or Y studs 21.

Having described my invention, l claim: 1. ,en article of manufacture comprising a member provided with a plurality of radiating arms, means on the end of each arm to engage and grip a. conductor, a second member mounted above the lirst member and secured thereto and having means to engage and grip the trolley conductors and means on the first member to permit a current collector to pass from one arm to a diametrically disposed arm.
