Be it known :that I, AUGUST S. Liss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly EXtermin-ators, p

of which the following is a description.

My invention relatesl to improvements in exterminaltors, and more particularly to an exterminator for the destroying of insects and vermin, especially flies. One of the vobjects of my inventionis to provide a liy exterminator that may placed out orn the reach of childrenso that they can not be injured by tliepoisonous constituents thereof. Another object of my invention istoprovide means for keeping the poison paper oi the exterminator properly moistenedlover long periods of time by providing a liquid reservoir and moistureconducting means leading therefrom to the paper, v-

It also has as an object the production of a filler element or cartridge which may be distributed as a mist, and safely handled and without loss of strength or elicieney. The invention has among its other objects the production of a device of the kind de scribed which shall be neat. ornamental, compact, durable, reliable, etlicient and satisfactory 'for use wherever found applicable. Many other objects and advantages will be obvious to those skilled inthe art from the disclosure herein given. f

To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and conibination et parts herein shown and described, and more particularly pointed out` in the claims.

yas shown. The absorbent material maybe initially moistened by immersing the assembled casing and parts in a'body of water, or` other liquid, or, if desired, either the -top or bottom caps may be-removed and water placed therein. f

`If Lit is desired to use the casing for one or more seasons, as would be the 'case Where lthe parts are ornamental and comparatively expensive, I have provided renewal carrtridges or refills, as shown in Fig.l 4L, inv which the poisonous sheet is formed tothe desired size and shape, and has the -absorbent material 6 interiorly thereof'. AWhen it is desired to insert the cartridge intojthe l casing, one or both of the caps 3 or 4 are removed to allow said insertion and replaced after it has been inserted. It the device is llO hung upright, the lower cap will catch and retain all surplus water or drippings. The

cartridge may be immersed, Vafter using, in poisoned liquid to keep the 'same potent or active. It is to be understood that the exterminators may be made as ornamental or decorative as desired so as to conform to the designs and colors of the surroundings in which they are arranged. Vhere a cartridge is no-t at hand, one may be readily made by the user and employed. It will be noted that 'the poison material may be kept moist without having a surplus liquid that will spill and flowl over drapes, carpets, floors, shelves, or other articles. Also, owing to the convenient construction and the suspending means, 'the same may be hung, suspended or supported at any convenient point, out of the reach of children or pet animals, and also in places whereI flies may gather or congregate, for example, on chandeliers, lixtures, shelves, curtains, picture frames, etc.

Having thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in the same without departing from the spirit ot' my invention; hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination ot' parts herein shown and described, or uses mentionecL l. ln an insect exterminator, a per-forated casing, poisonous material arranged therein and accessible from the exterior thereof, a reservoir adapted to contain` a liquid', and moisture-absorbent means above and leading from said reservoir and communicating with said poisonous material movable closures orfthe ends of said casing forming a reservoirreillable from either end of the casing, absorbent poisonous material removably arranged in said casing accessible through said apertures, and a` porous material removably arranged in said casing leading from said reservoir to said poisonous material to conduct moisture thereto.
