,Be it known that I, ANToNrNo PIZZINO, a citizen of the United States, residing at Massillon, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and the article which is being worked on pushed against the rotating wheel'by the operator. This practice usually requires that the operator exert considerable muscular force in pushing the article against the wheel in order to accomplish the desired result and in many instancesit is with great difliculty that. the article being worked upon, particularly where the operation is a grinding operation, is pushed against the grinding wheel, and moreover where the operator is exerting muscular force directly against the article being worked upon, a slipping of the article is liable to result in the operators hand or other portion of his body coming into contact with the wheel and inflicting more or less serious injury.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device for use in connection with agrinding, polishing or buffing wheel wherein the article being worked on is not directly held by the operator but is moved into contact with the rotating wheel by devices that are operated and moved by the operator.
An additional object is to provide such a device wherein there is a multiplication .of power so that the application of muscular force on the part of the operator is accomplished through a. leverage, thereby multiplying the pressure exerted upon the object in its presentation to the rotating, grinding, butting or polishing wheel.
Reference should be had to the accompaning drawings forming a part of this specification, in which Fig. 1 is a top plan view; Fig. 2 is a front elevation; Fig. 3 is an end elevation showing a part of the device.
Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates a rotary tool such as a grinding, buffing or polishing wheel. At 2 there is indicated a platform which extends in front of and transversely with respect to the wheel 1 and is so positioned that an article such as 3 which is to be subjected to the action of the wheel 1 may be rested upon the platform 2 and will be in proper position for engagement with the wheel 1.
The platform 2 is provided with a plurality of squareopenings 4t and these openings are adapted to receive projecting legs 5 which extend from an upright plate-like member 6 which maybe termed a fulcrum member; The upright member .6 may be moved with respect to the platform. 2 so that it will occupy a variety of positions with respect tothe wheel 1.
' The .fulcrum memb-er'6, as before stated, is formed as a plate and in the body of the plate there are certain openings, which are for the purpose of receiving the end" of a bar 7. These openings may assume various :forms but. the arrangement shown in Fig. 3 forms a very even arrangement. It should be noted that the member 6 may be described as a frame member having inwardly extending projections 6 which projections are formed with an inclined rounded surface 6 which is adapted to receive the end of the bar 7 and the lower straight portion of each extension 6' will retain the bar from dropping downwardly. There area number of such projections and openings for'the bar so that the bar may be inserted throughany desired opening in order to produce the desired pressure against the article 3 which is being worked on.
The bar 7 is as before stated, manipulated by having oneend thereof inserted in a suitable opening in the fulcrum 6 and the opposite end is in the hands of the operator with an intermediate portion of the bar engaging the article which is to be pushed against the wheel 1. This arrangement permits a multiplication of the muscular power exerted by the operator when the same is applied against the article 3, and additionally it will be noted that the article is pushed by the bar 7 and not by the hands of the operator, thus eliminating the direct application of force by the operator to the article being operated on, and providing against injury to the operator. 7
Due to the wide range in the positions which the fulcrum member 6 may be given on the platform 2, and additionally due tothe large number of positions which the bar 7 may assume with respect to the fulcrum 6, there are alarge range of fulcrum points to accommodate various size articles and protaining said adjustable member in adjusted position on the platform, and a bar adapted to have a portion thereof in engagement with said movable member as a fulcrum and another part to engage with an object to be moved against the rotary tool.

of a platform extending in front of said tool, a fulcrum member mounted on said platform and adapted to be mounted in any one of a variety of positions upon said platform, said fulcrum member being provided with a plurality of abutments, a bar adapted to have a portion thereof engaged with a selected abutment on the fulcrum member and to have a portion of said bar to engage with an object to be moved against the rotary tool.

-of a platform extending in front of said tool, said platform being provided with a plurality of openings, a fulcrum member having a projection therefrom which is adapted to co-operate with a selected opening in the said platform whereby the fulcrum member may be mounted on the platform in a variety of positions, said fulcrum member being provided with a plurality of abutments, a bar having a portion thereof adapted to engage with a selected abutment and to have another portion thereof engage with an object to be moved against the rotary tool.
