EMERY'D. VAN Honsnn. or rnnnnionxs, inoltra-nn. 1
sHAvrNG MUG. i
Application ned January s, leas; Serin No. 610,481.
T 0 all 'whom it may concern.: e
Be it known that l, EME-RY D. VAN HonsEN, a citizen of the United States, anda resident of Three Forks, in the county of Gallatin and State of Montana, have invented a new and improved Shaving Mug, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention has relation to containers and refers more particularly to an improvement in shaving mugs which are especially designed for use in public barber shops..
The principalobject of the present invention is to provide a mug or other open ended receptacle of this type which is provided with means for maintaining the contents thereof in a heated condition. More specilically the invention contemplates a shaving mug of the character set forth which maintains a more even and agreeable temperature to the brush and lather during the process of shaving the patrons of a barber shop, without adding extremely hot water from a faucet at frequent intervals during the time retppired to shave one person.
s a still further obj ect the invention contemplates a shaving mug which is comparatively simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture and which may be maintained in a thoroughly clean and sanitary condition.
With the above recited and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel. construction set forth in the following specifcation, particularly pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, it being understood that the right is reserved to embodiments other than those actually illustrated herein to the full extent indicated by the general meaning of the terms in which the claims are expressed.
In the drawing- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through a shaving mug constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.
Referring to the drawing by characters of reference the mug consists of a holder 10 of any desired configuration and a container unit 11 which is adapted to be concentrically supported within and spaced from the holder by suitable resilient embracing elements 12 which frictionally engage said container unit upon its insertion in the holder, the holder being provided with the usual 'masas handle 13. The container unitf11 consists of. l
inner and outershells 14 and 15 which define therebetweenV a sealed chamber 16 in which hot water or any other suitable heating agent 17 is placed through a filling opening 18 normally closed by a removable closure cap or plug 19. The lower portion 20 of the inner shell 15 is constructed of glass or any other suitable heat conducting material while theupper portion 21 thereof and the entire outer shell 14 are constructed of a material 0r element which is a non-conductor of heat. ln the present instance the portion 21 and the outer shell preferably consists of inner and outer spaced layers 22 and 23 of metal between which a suitable packing 24 is disposed to reduce the dissipation of the heat of the heating agent therethrough, to a minimum. In practice, however, the packing 24 may be omitted if desired and a vacuum produced between the layers 22 and 23 erform the same function. n use, the hot water or heating agent 17 is introduced through the filling opening 18 into the chamber 16 and the closure plug 19 is replaced. Asthe mug is rinsed a new lather is made and at the beginning of each shave the lower portion 20 ofthe inner shell will be slightly raised in temperature, which together with the radiation of the heat from the heating agent in the container unit, will,
maintain practically an unvarying temperature of the4 brush and lather for a periodo-f time ordinarily required to shave a person. Vhen necessary the inner container unit 11 may be removed or withdrawn from the` holder 10 for the purpose of cleansing the unit-s.
I claim:
1. A shaving mug comprising spaced cupshaped inner andouter shells connected at their upper ends and defining therebetween a sealed chamber for the reception of a heating agent, the entire outer shell and the upper portion of the inner shell constructed of a non-heat-conducting material, and the remaining lower portion of the inner shell constructed of a heat-conducting material,
whereby to afford a container element, the contents of which will be maintained in a heated condition from the heating agent through the portion constructed of conducte ing material and whereby the non-conduct.- ing portion will minimize the dissipation-of the heating agent.
2. A shaving mug comprising an outer rcup-shaped member having its upper open end fitted between the inner and outer layers of the lower end of the flange, said inner member being constructed of a heat conduct- 10 ing material and said outer shell and memby the outer shell will minimize .of the heat from the heating agent through the outer sidesy of the mug.
ber defining therebetween a space for the reception of a heating agent whereby the contents of the mug within the inner cup-V shaped member will be maintained in heatedk condition Vfrom the-heating` agent and wheredissipation EMERY D. VAN HoRsEN.-
