Be it known that I. Gnoncr. F. 'HAr'sER- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bartow, in the county of Polk and State of F lorida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Driers, of which the following is a specification.

A fan chamber 17 is located above the drying room at the rear end thereof and this chamber is in communication with the drying room by means of the passage 18. A fan 19 is arranged in the chamber 17 so. that vhen the fan is actuated a suction will be created to. draw the air from the drying room into the chamber and this air will discharge through the outlet 19, The fan maybe actuated in any desired manner, the drawings showing a pulley 20 on the fan shaft 21. The chamber 17 is provided with a damper 22 in front of the fan which actsas a means for preventing a vacuum being formed in the apparatus when the cold air damper is partly closed.
y my arrangement of parts the entire space within the drying room can be utilized for drying the material. -By placing the heating coils and the fan above the drying room the tracks can enter the room from the I ends thereof and the size of the buildingican be reduced. By introducing the air into the drying room at the bottom thereof a better drying effect is secured as the heated air travels along the floor inthe space between the loaded trucks and the floor and passes up through the racked material on the trucks and thus dries the material evenly.- The damper 14 can regulate the heat and when this damper is nearly closed damper 22 can be opened so as to reduce the strain (mthe fan. 1

ing room and connected with the rear end 'thereof and means directing the heated air from the heating chamber to the lower part of the drying room,
2. A kiln of the class described comprisvmeans for placing the suction chamber in communication with the atmosphere doors at the ends of the drying room and means for actuating the doors. s
