Description

B tornia,
gerrnicide is not"desiredeide in a spray tion whe ein like 45 is used to designate 55 dcl'lecting conc .enoteca sanmartin, or rnenorsco, cerimonia.
Application.
To all -wiiom t muy conce/n v Be it known that l, l'lnc'roiz l `nI..Ln'1'iA, a subject et italy, residing in the city and ,county ot San Francisco and State ol Calihave invented a new and useful luiprovement in a Disintecting Nozzle, ot' which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in4 disinfectiug nozzles wherein a liquid `germi- 10 cide is mixed with and projected by water and the vobjects ot luy invention are;
First, to provide animproved nozzle wherein a liquid germicide may be'inixed `with water and .projected through said 15 nozzle.
Second1 to provide means for mixing a liquid gerinicide with Water projected through anozzle without lessening the utility of the nozzle when adiuixture ot' said Third, to provide an improved nozzle for projecting a liquid germicide with water discharged through said nozzle and adapted to he adjusted to project water and germiot' the desired character and in a mixture ot the desired strength.
I accomplish these and other objects by means of the device disclosed in the drawings forming a part of the present specificacharacters of reference are used to designate similar parts throughout said specification and drawingsi and in which- Fig. l is a side elevation of a nozzle disclosing the tubular member for supplying a gerinicide.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the nozzle shown in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of the dispersiug tip.
Fig. i is a cross section ot the tip taken along the line lf-4 ot Fig. in the direction indicated. i
Referring to'the drawings the numeral l in general a nozzle. Centrally located within tlu'J nozzle is a tubular member 2 provided at its inner end with an interior threaded portion 3 engaging threads t formed on one end oi a dispersing tip 6, portions ot the threads 4 heing cut away to torni flattened surfaces 7 providing passages S between said tip 6 and the inner threaded wall ot the tube Q. the opposite cud o'r' the tip 6 is formed a 9 provided with a flattened outer surface ll having a groove l2 torined serves as an additional means ,passages 8, when screwed to drostatic pressure, the dcfiecting cone .creasing the supply ot' A suitable Valve 18 is provided in the conduit 17 -whcreby the supply of germicide may he readily controlle The tip 6, also of controlling the supply of germicide as the conical deliecting surface 9 serves to limit the size of the passages 8 and to entirely close said a position adjacent the end of the tubular member ln use iny inventionoperates as `t'olloivs. rl"he rush et water through the water chaluber 19 ot thc nozzle l causes a fluid germi.- cide, supplied 'troni a suitable container positioned above the level oi' the nozzle, to he drawn through the passages 8 between the tubular incmbcr 2 and the tip '6, and mixed with said water. The mixture is toi-cedv through the nozzle aperture 21 by the hyand is iinpinged against 9 which serves to direct the water and gerinicide into a spray. The character ot' the spray may he adjusted by a suitable positioning ot' the cone 9 or by screwing the tip (S to approximately the desired position and adjusting with the nozzle tip in the usual manner.
The strength of the resulting mixture of gerinicide and water may be readily edjusted by increasing or decreasing the supply ot' germicidc, or water, or both as the particulareneeds may require. Thus a heavy supply of germicide with a light .supply of water will. give a relatively strong solution which may be `readily reduced in strength by increasing the flow germicide.
lt y.1s at once obvious that, in this manner, a` solution "of the germicide ot the desired strength may he readily and evenly distributcd over the entire surface ot' an object to be treated without causing a harmful excess to be applied to one portion in' order that another portion ot' the object may be reached. The adjustment o'spray Irialres it readily adaptable to any character of object of water or by die- Mtl or surface without Waste of germicde and with a maximum effectiveness.
llzivinn` thus described. my invention what l claim es new und desire to secure by Let ters Patent is- 4 l 1. The comigrinetion with a nozzle cour prising inner and outer easing:Y memhen forming a mixing chamber within the forward end thereof, o a tubular member een trally mounted withm the inner casing and extending outwardly therethrough into the mixing chamber for supplying a liquid germicide t-hereinto to he mixed with water passing therethrough from the inner easing; z dis-persing tip threaded into the forward end of the tuhulermeinher, said tip extending outwardly through the outlet et the chamber and nozzle; flattened sides formed upon said 'tip to permit the passage oi germieide from the tubular member into the mixingr chamber; and a deflecting cone formed upon the outer end of the tip and positioned outwardlyv adjacent the outlet ot' the'mixing chamber and nozzle for directing the mixed Water und Jgermieide 'projected therepast into a spray. i
2. The combination with a nozzle comprisend thereof into the mixingy chamber for Sui'iplying. a liquid germivide thereinto tohe mixed within the ehnniber with water passing therethrough troni the inner easing ineniher; a dispersing -tip threaded into the foi-wurd end ol" the tubular member, said tip extendingT outwardlv through the outlet olt the mixing ehaniher and nozzle', flattened sides formed upon bseid tipto permit the passage oi' gerniieide from the tubular memyher past the tip and into the mixing chumher: and a cone `Formed upon the outer end of the tip and normally positioned adjacent the outer side nl' the outletI from the ehamher and 'nozzle for directing` the mixed `,erinieide and water into a spray adapted to he regulated hy adjustment of the outer eglsing `member relative to the cone.
