Be it known that I, GEORGE J. HELENEK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, Long Island City, borough of Queens, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Display Stand, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to display stands and has for an object to provide an improved construction which will positively display the articles desired while holding them in a compact arrangement.

Another object is to provide a display stand for displaying tubular articles or rolls without utilizing too much floor space in a store.

A, still further object is to provide a dis play stand and holding rack for articles in rolls whereby they may be readily removed and re-inserted without injury and in a minimum amount of time.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a side view of a display rack disclosing an embodiment of the invention, a number of rolls being shown in position thereon.

Figure 2 is a top plan view of approximately half of the stand shown in Figure 1.

Figure 3 is av sectional view through Figure 2 approximately on line 33.

Figure 4 is a sectional vie-w through Fig: ure 1 approximately on line 44, the same being on an enlarged scale.

Figure 6 is a detail perspective view of a locking fixture disclosing certain features of the invention.

Referring to the accompanying drawings by numeral, 11 indicates a base which is preferably made from a number of tubes 12 threaded into a central fitting 13 and bent for producing the upright sections or legs 14 which receive any desired kind of casters 15. Preferably, the base 11 is larger than the supporting platform 16. This supporting platform, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, is constructed with a sheet metal covering 17 bent at the outer edge for forming a depending flange 18 and resting on suitable supporting arms ,19, said arms preferably having bracing ribs to produce the desired stifi' structure. cured in place by suitable members 20. The arms 19 may be made fro-m cast metal and when they are formed a central disk 21 is provided which is formed with a tubular section 22 having an inturned annular flange 23 designed to support the tube 24. The flange 23 rests on a suitable bearing washer 25 which in turn rests on the fitting 13 so that the device may be-easily rotated.

If desired, anti-friction rollers or other anti-friction means may be substituted for the washer 25 which really acts as an anti friction member. A central or fixed tube 26 is threaded into the fitting 13 and acts as a standard around which the tube 24 moves said tube loosely fitting over the standard 26. The sleeve 22 is rigidly'secured to the tube 24 by any suitable means, as for in stance, set screws 27 so that the platform 16 and the tube 24 will rotate together. At the upper end of the tube 24 the upper platform 28 is secured rigidly to the tube 24 by the set screws 29 extending through the tubular section. 30 of the central disk 31 from which the various supporting arms 32 radiate, said supporting arms being preferably formed of stiffening ribs. The covering plate 17 on the base 16 is provided with a number of apertures 33 in which supporting pans 34 are mounted, said pans having upper turned over flanges 35 and pressed out beads 36, the beads 36 engaging the lower surface of the cover 17 while the flanges 35 engage the upper surface and thereby hold the respective pans 34 rigidly in place. These pans are made of the proper size for receiving the lower ends of the various articles 37, said articles being any suitable rolled or tubular article, as for instance, oilcloth. The upper platform 28, similar to the lower platform, is provided with acovering 38 of sheet metal which is formed with a cut-out notch 39 for each of the pans 34, said notches being in line with the pans so that the articles 37 may stand vertically.

Rivet-ed or otherwise rigidly secured to the covering plate 38 and to the respective arms 32 are L-shaped tongues 40 which merge into the respective locking fixtures 41, said locking fixtures being riveted at one end to a.- catch or bolt 42 and at the opposite end provided with a. notch 43 for receiving the bent end 44 of the next catch or bolt 42.
