IMPROVEMENT IN P-UMPS.
Specification.forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,853, dated January 27, 1874; application iiled October 18, 1873. l
To all vwhom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, THOMAS WILMINGTON, of Ossian, in the county of Wells and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement n Pumps, oi' which the following,` is a specification:
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the elai 1n.
In the accompanying; drawing, Figure l represents a vertical section ot' the pump, taken on the line a' w of Fig. 3. Fig. 2 is a side view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This is a double-acting lifting-pump, having two eylinders, A and B, made in the bleek of wood C, with a met-allie water-chamber, D, above the cylinders, or resting on the block O. E is a plate on top of the chamber, through which is a valve-orifice, F, which is closed by the valve G. Above the valve G is another metallic chamber, H, which is covered by the plate I. J is the delivery-pipe, which is attached, by means of a ilange, to the plate I. K K are the valve-buckets. L L are the lower valves, the seats of which are on the lower plate, M, to which plate the induction-pipes N N are attached. These pipes extend to the water. O O are the bucket-rods. These rods pass through stufling-boxes P P in the upper plate, E, and extend up to the top of the stand Q, Where they take hold of the ends of two vibrating bars, R R. The bars work-on the pivot rod S, which rod passes horizontally through the top of the stand Q. The ends of these bars extend back from the pivots, and enter loosely the ends of cross T of the working lever U. The working lever is vibrated 011 the pivot V in the top of the stand Q, and motion is imparted to the pistons thereby.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of vibrating bars It R and cross and lever V U, as and for the purposes described.
