The invention relates to improvements in metallic flumes in which a thin metal trough is used for conveying water for irrigation or similar purposes, the metal trough being formed of successive sections of proper curvature and joined together to form a continuous channel. erection of flumes "of. this characten'the joints "between the several sec'tionsshould be made with a minimum of separable parts an'dwithout rivets or bolts, and to provide a water tight joint be'tween'the several secti'ons, means should beprovided for clamp ing the overlapped ends of the sections tightly together. a peripheral corrugation in the outerlapped end receiving the corrugation in the innerlapped end, flexible lugs on the hanger for forcing the inner corrugation outward at the sides'of the flume and means for drawing the ends of the flange '1 toward the hanger for clamping the outerlapped end against the innerlapped end.
5. A metallic flume including adjoining sections having-overlapped ends, a transverse hanger adjacent to the edges of the overlapped ends, means abutting the hanger and staying the innerlapped end against external pressure, and means clamping the overlapped end against the innerlapped end, there being outwardly directed tongues struck downward from the transverse hanger inside the ends of the staying means of the innerlapped end and wedged upward against the same to press them outward.
6. A metallic flume including adjoining sections having overlapped ends, a transverse hanger adjacent to the edges of the overlapped ends, a peripheral corrugation abutting the hanger and staying the innerlapped end against external pressure, and means clamping the overlapped end against the innerlapped end, there being tongues struck from the transverse hanger extending downward and outward and being driven upward to impinge the inner sides of the staying means and to force and lockrthe same outward against the outer lapped end of the Hume section.
