State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seals, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to seals and is more particularly an improvement on the seal shown in Patent No. 961,931 of June 21,
In that patent is shown an open-face seal formed by a cup-shape member, the cupshape member having a closed bottom and its walls constituting prongs or lips which are bent over the cord. Wlth the construction there shown it has been found possible to insert a tool and to pry open the lips. The main object and feature of this invention is to prevent the insertion of a tool, for this purpose, into the seal.
Fig. 1 is a general View of a seal embodying one form of the invention, the seal being shown-in its closed position and with Fig. 2 is a sectional view line 22 of Fig. 1.
The seal member '1 is cup-shape as shown on the plane of with a central opening 2 bothin the back and front of face thereof, and the walls of the cup-shape member form two pairs of opposed lips 3, 4, 5 and 6 arranged at right angle to each other and on the same side of the seal. After cord 7 has been placed in the seal the lips are folded or bent inwardly as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and a filling member 9 is inserted in the central opening and pressed into shape to completely fill said opening to thereby prevent the insertion of a tool to pry lips 3,, 4', 5 or 6 open.
I claim:
A seal part composed of a cup-shape member provided with a central opening in its front and back face, the walls of said member forming two pairs of opposed lips arranged at right angles to each other on the same side of the member, and a central filling'member occupying the central opening to completely fill the same and thereby prevent the insertion of a tool for prying open the lips.
