Description

the l.
JACOB G. ISENH IOUR, OF DANVILLE, VIRGINIA.
DISPENSING APPARATUS.
Application filed March 18, 1922.
To all to 710m it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAcoB G. IsnNHoUR,
a citizen of the United States, residing-at Danville, in the county of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in dispensing apparatus and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character, especially designed and adapted for use for the dispensing of carbonized beverages and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind with a novel and improved means whereby the carbonized liquid is conveniently main tained at a low temperature.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide a novel and improved device of this character embodying a container together with a tank mounted within said container, said tank and container having an ntervening space therebetween in which ice is adapted to be packed, together with means whereby fluid within the tank may be readily discharged exteriorly of the container.
The invention consists in the details of 30 construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved dispensing apparatus whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention ma y be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanyingdrawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view, partly in section and partly in elevation illustrating a dispensing apparatus constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention; and
Figure 2 is a view in elevation of the guard or shield plate herein employed, detached.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, C denotes a container of the requisite dimensions and which has its upper end open. Associated with the container C is a top or cover member M, said member M in cluding the marginal flange 1 having its free edge portion disposed on an outward bevel as desired Serial No. 544,844.
at 2. This bevel 2 of the flange 1 contacts with a correspondingly beveled portion 3 of the upper portion of the container C whereby a tight engagement of the cover or top member M with the container C is assured. The flange l of the member M at points thereon has secured thereto the rods 4%, said rods being of a length, when the member M is applied, to extend inwardly of the container C. Each of the rods 4 is adapted to extend through an annular member or collar 5 carried by and extending from the container C and threaded through said collar or loop 5 is a clamping member 6 for contact with the rod 4: whereby the member M is held in applied position upon the container C The lower portion of the container C has secured thereto a bracket 7 rotatably supporting the ground engaging wheel 8. The Wheel 8 provides means whereby the container C may be readily and conveniently transported as desired. Fixed to the bottom of the container C is a tank T, said tank being spaced from the inner wall of the container C to provide a chamber in which ice may be packed in order to maintain at a relatively low temperature the contents of the tank T. The tank T is of a type now generally employed for containing carbonized beverages and leading from the upper portion of said tank T is a flexible pipe or connection 9 preferably of copper which leads to a discharge within a spigot 10. The spigot 10 is inserted through a wall of the container C at a desired location and the extended portion of said spigot 10 has interposed therein a controlling valve 11.
Extending across the interior of the container C and anchored to said container at substantially diametrically opposed points is a brace 12 engaging the upper portion of the tank T to further assure the proper maintenance of the tank T within the container C. Hingedly connected to the outer face of the container C above the spigot 10 is a metallic plate 13 adapted to serve as a shield for the extended portion of the spigot 10, said plate being of a shape to substantially house such portion of the spigot. WVhen in operative position, the plate 13 is maintained in such a position by a lock 14 associated with a staple 15 passing through a suitable opening in the free end of the plate 13. This plate or shield 13 protects this spigot in case of fall or otherwise and also provides means to prevent stealing, during transportation, the contents of the tank T. Embedded in the outer face of the container C is a gage 16, the opposite end portions of such gage being in communication with the tank T and in a manner whereby the level of the beverage within the tank can be readily determined.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a dispensing apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof, and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
An apparatus of the class described comprislng a container, a removable cover for said container, the contacting portions of the cover and container being beveled, rods carried by the cover and overlying the container inwardly of the cover when the cover is applied, collars carried by the container through which the rods extend, and clamping means carried by the collars for co-action with the rods disposed through the collars.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afli'x my signature.
JACOB G. ISENHOUR.
