Be it known that we, CHARLES JERABEK and EMPSON H. BAINBRIDGE, citizens of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Finger Moisten ers, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to devices for moistening the fingers, and particularly to such devices dispensing moisture containing an antiseptic, it being designed for use by press feeders, shipping clerks and others whose duty calls for frequent moistening of the finger tips, and for bank clerks, cashiers. railway conductors, doctors, leather workers and others whose duty brings them in contact with germ laden and infectious articles.

The object of ourinvention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and effective device of this kind, and also one which can be conveniently attached directly to the user, so as to be accessible to the finger tips to be moistened or sterilized or both.

\Vith these. objects in view, our invention consists in novel construction and arrangement of parts and combinations as are hereinafter described and claimed.

For a better undertsanding of our inven tion and some of the various forms it may take reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings in which:

vessel or reservoir of any suitable shape, size and material capable of holding a suitable llqlilCl A such as, for example, water or an antiseptic solution, and provided with a finger,.moisture, or absorbent pad P, pad support S, filling cap C andhook H.

Vessel-V is provided on: its front side s a nipple a which may be a separate piece attached to the vessel or formed by stamping or turning a portion of the vessel V. 7 Coacting with nipple n is a threaded cap G and:

between the end ofthe nipple and inside of the cap theremay be provided a washer w of leather, rubber or other suitable material to prevent leakage.

A pad support S is also provided preferably on the same side. of the vessel V as the filling cap and may consist, as shown in Figs.

1, 3, 4 and 5 of a slotted plate provided with holes h for conducting the moisture or liquid from the reservoir to the moisture pad P, or it may be formed of two perforated plates, upper and lower, separated a short distance with a thin spacer or washer of similar shape to that of the plates and the three soldered or brazed together to form a moisture du'ct (Z andmoisture pad support. The

pad support S may be soldered, brazed or;

otherwise attached to the vessel V in an opening provided for the purpose.

Moisture pad P may be of felt, sponge, sponge rubber, or other suitable absorbent or moisture retaining material, slitted at one end, drawn over the support S and secured by means of a thread, string or band 8 to the sup port S and close to the side of vessel V.

Hook H is provided for attaching the device to the clothing of the user, as for example by inserting it in a button hole, or clamping it over a belt.

The moistening solution A maybe water or other suitable liquid in cases where moisture only is desired, or it may consist of an antiseptic solution for sterilizing the fingers and reducing the danger of infection and disease from articles handled by the user.

In Figure 6 there are shown means for attaching the device to the user, particularly for well dressed persons and more especially for women, consisting of a protective pad G secured to vessel V by means of cleats 0 (Fig. 7 and belt B, a i

In Figure 7 there is shown a modification provided with anadjustable strap or of the moisture pad P which in this case sorbent material projecting sufficiently into and clamped or otherwise secured directly to the vessel V by means of shoulders p which completely surround the supporting end of pad P Figure 8 shows a modification of the hook portion of Fig. 1, in which the lower end of the hook H is inwardly bent to prevent loss of the device from the clothing (Z of the wearer whenever they stoop or otherwise bend over.

It will be understood that in some cases the vessel V may be omitted where the absorbent pad itself retains sufiicient moisture for any desired period and the moisture or absorbent pad chargedwith moisture, either plain or containing an antiseptic, by applyin the moistenin solution to the Jad in any desired manner.

It will be further understood that we do not desire to be limited to the precise details shown herein but that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of our invention.

WVhat we claim is:

1. A finge moistening device comprising a reservoir, filling means, a moisture conducting stem supported by said reservoir, an absorbent pad embracing and adapted to receive moisture from said stem, and means for attaching said device to the clothing of the user.

2. A finger inoistening device comprising a reservoir, fillin means, a perforated moisture conducting stein supported by said reservoir and an absorbent pad embracing said stem and adapted to receive moisture therefrom.

3. A finger moistening device comprising a reservoir provided on one side with filling means and a moisture conducting stem embraced by an absorbent pad, and on the other side means for attaching said device to the clothing of the user.
