To all 'whom Ait may concern.:
Be it known that I, EDWIN SANFORD, of the Y city and county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pulleys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear7 and' exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part Loi' this specification.
A is the wheel-rim, havin g suitable recesses B that will receive the lagging through the top opening. C is a pliable lagging7 having vthe thickened ends of lagging.
I am aware that lagging, to promote friction between the belt and pulley7 has been nailed to Wooden strips fastened in dovetailed recesses of the pulley; but the lagging was in a single annular piece7 and had no subjacent thickening like mine.
Having thus described my invent-ion, what I cla-iin as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is a.
The continuous lagging, to fit between a pulley and belt made open at intervals, and at each end thickened to enter the recesses on the rim of the pulley and receive from below a fastenin gscrew7 in the manner described.
