To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY AMBUs, a citizen of the United States residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga, State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Combined Door Openers and Curtain Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined door opening and curtain carrying'device for automobiles and is particularly concerned with a quick detachable device of the class described, for Ford automobiles, having door handle actuating means and curtain carryin means.
One object of the invention is to construct a simple device adapted to be attached to an automobile door and provided with means for easily actuating the door opening handle, and for carrying a door opening curtain.
Another object is to provide novel detachable means forattaching door opening curtains to a Ford automobile.
A further object is to provide a simple means for easily operating the door opening handles of Ford automobile doors.
Other objects will appear and be pointed out hereinafter.
In the drawings attached to and forming a part of this specification:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the improved device with fragments of a door opening curtain and an automobile doc-r shown. 7 V
Fig. 2 is a rear end elevation of the structure shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken on lines 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4.- is a cross sectional viewthrough the clamping members of my improved device taken on lines 4-4 of big. 1, and y Fig. 5 is a perspectiveview of the novel curtain carrying rod.
In the attached drawings wherein one modification of my invention has been illustrated, 1 and 2 indicate clamping'members adapted to engage thertop edge of automobile door 8. Preferably these clamps are formed respectively with portions 1 and 2 to seat upon the top of the door and portions 1* and 2 depending therefrom and shaped on their interior surface'to conform to the contour of the door. In the modification illustrated, the door has a head at on its metres res earner orrica.

outer surface and accordingly the inner surface of portion 1 is concave to engage therewith.
Through opening '6 in members land 2 extends a curtain carrying rod 14: provided with a threaded terminal and nut 15. This rod is suitably bent to seat in a groove 16- on the outer surface of member 1 and when securely held therein by tightening nut 15, the rod 14 is firmly secured in place and the members 1 and 2 are tightly clamped together. Rod 14; is adapted to receive one end of a curtain of the door opening type as shown in Fig. 1, and the other end of the curtain being suitably secured to the automobile.
It will be observed that the parts of my improved device are interchangeable as regards both sides of an automobile. Members 1 and 2 are provided with several openings of substantially the same size so that the cap screw and door handle 9 may be used interchangeably in openings 5 and 7. Member 1 preferably carries threads formed in each of the openings 5 and 7, while grove 16 on the outer surface of member 1 extends for the full length thereof and permits cur- 'tain rod 141- to be employed at either end.
Both handles -9 and 11 are interchangeable for either side of an automobile.
Havmgthus descr1bedone practical embodiment of my invention for purposes of i1lustration, I- desire to have it understood that my invention s capable of var ous modifications without departing from the spirit thereof, The scope of myinveiition is defined by what is claimed;
