Description

' July 31, 1923- W. P. HEISNER ET AL ADJUSTABLE STRAINEH SUPPORT Filed May 51 Patented .mi ai, 1923.
ir are WESLEY r. HEISNER AND PAULA. names, or aooKvILLn, NEBRASKA;
. ADJUSTABLE strBAiNE n surronr.
Application filed May 31, 1922.
provide a device of this character comprising a strainer supporting r1ng formed fromv hingedly connected seml-circular sections hingedly movable in the same plane. and provided with outwardly extending arms slidably and hingedly mounted on the'ring sections and forming means for supporting the ring over a separator or other receptacle for supporting a strainer.
A further object is toprovide an extensible arm carried by one of the supporting arms and forming means whereby-the support may be supported on various sizes of separators or receptacles.
A further object is to provide means whereby the strainer supporting ring may be adjusted for receiving different sizes of strainers.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment .of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the strainer supporter.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the supporter.-
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 'ner that the sections may move independently of each other in the same plane, thereby allowing the ring to be extended in size and held in adjusted position by mean of the set screw 4: which passes through the P. HnrsNER and Serial No. 564,911.
o iter' wall of thesleeve 5 which is secured at 6 to'one of the sections 2 and in the flared chamber 7 of which the end 8 of the other section may move. Slidably mounted on the Mean ring sections 2 are sleeves 9, which sleeves frictionally engage the sections2 and will stay in any position to which they may be moved and thereby allowing the sleeve to be diametrically positioned according to the position of the ring sections 2 when adjusted outwardly, and consequently the device to balance when on a receptacle 10. Hingedly connected at 11 to the sleeves 9 adjacent their lower sides are receptacle engaging arms 12 and 13. The arm 12 is provided with aflange 14: which engages the outer side of the receptacle 1O and'is held inclose engagem ent therewith by'means hereinafter set forth in such a manner as to prevent easy tipping of the device. Each-"arm 12 and 13 is provided with a vertically disposed portion 15 which engages the outer sides of the sleeves 9'and prevents collapsing of the device when on a receptacle. However by providing the hinging points 11 adjacent the lower sides of the sleeves 9, the arms 12 and 1.3 may be folded downwardly onto the ring and onto each other in such a manner as to form a compact structure for storage purposes. The arm 18 is provided with an elongated slot 16, through which slot the rectangular portion 17 of a threaded lug 18 sion arm 20 may be adjusted outwardly or inwardly and held in adjusted position, thereby allowing the flange 21 of thearm 20 to be held in close engagement with the outer wall of the receptacle l0 and also the flange 14.- of the arm 12 in close engagement with the receptacle in such a'manner as to frictionallybind and prevent tilting of the V v device as a whole when supporting a strainer.
From the above'it will be seen that a strainer support is provided, which support is simple in construction, the parts reduced to a minimum, and one which may beeasily and cheaply constructed;
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is z--- A stralner supporter comprising a strainer receiving ring, said ring comp'ris-.
ing'hingedly connectedring sections movable in the sameplane, a sleeve carried by one end of one of the sections and having a tapering chamber therein for the reception of the adjacent end of the adjacent section, set screw means for holding the ring sections in adjusted positions, sleeves siidably mounted on the ring sections, upwardly and outwardly extending armshingedly connected to the sleeves adjacent their lower sides and in abutting engagement with the 10 sleeves, one of said arms being provided with an outwardly and inwardly adjustable arm, dcwiwardly extending flanges carried by the adjustable arm and the upwardly and outi 'dly extending arm and forming means for frictionally engaging opposite sides of a receptacle.
In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures.
W. P. HEISNER. P. A. I-IEIS-NER.
