M.A.MEYER ATOMIZER Filed Feb. 19, 1920 INVE/V TOR I mm Q A TTORNEVS Patented July 1?, i923.
'- are sr MABELLE A. IMEYER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
Application filed February 19, 1920. SerialNO. 359,840.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MABELLE A. MEYER, citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Atomizers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. r
This invention is a novel atomizer, for example, for use with perfumes or like liquids. The main object of the invention is to afford an ornamental and attractive article of this kind possessing the appearance of a toy figure, namely, a doll figure, and yet which is handy and efficient in use. To the ccomplishment of such objects, and other and further objects and advantages which will hereinafter appear, the present invention consists in the novel atomizer and the novel matters of design, construction, arrangement and combination herein illustrated or described.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, Fig. 1 is a front'elevation of the complete article assembled and in readiness for use, certain interior parts being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section of the same, shown partly in exterior view to indicate the mode of applying pressure to the air bulb.
The bottle A, containing the perfume or other material or liquid to be sprayed, is shown as having a neck B, preferably with exterior screw threads to receive a stopper C in the form 'of a screw'cap. Passing through the screw cap and secured to it is a downwardly extending tube D, reaching nearly to the bottom of the bottle and intended for the exit of perfume when forced by the pneumatic operation. The upper end of the liquid tube D is curved or turned outwardly at E, its extremity or exit Fbeing such as to afford an atomizing' orspray ing action of the perfume. For causing this operation an air tube G is provided, this leading into the interior of the bottle A. At its exterior portion the tube G is bent sharply downward, and there grovided with a pneumatic device or air bulb I, lying close to the bottle A. This bulb constitutes a convenient operating device for effecting or conceal the bottle A.
the necessary pressure to force the material to spray as herein described.
The toy figure I, shOWn as a doll, has below the head portion a body. J. These parts land J m'ayconsist of a portion of a hollow celluloid doll, namely, the head, shoul ders, arms and a part of the trunk. The lowest portion or extension K of the cellu loid figure is shown of such dimensions as to be attached firmly to thescrew cap or stopper C, or, if preferred it could be formed or manufactured integrally with the stopper. K partly overlaps the screw cap, and is there attached, for example, by an adhesive tape or plaster L, wound tightly aroundin contact with both parts K and C.
At a higher point, and in the center front of the dolls chest is produced an aperture or spray exit M, so located as to correspond with the exit or extremity F of the liquid tube D. The celluloid portions, therefore, not merely conceal and protect the operative parts of the atomizer, but co-operate therewith by affording an aperture atthe point where the spray is outwardly directed. Similarly at the rear of the figure is an aperture N, or rather a vertical slot adapted to receive the air pipe G.
I i suitable costume for the doll may comprise ribbons or straps O held upby the shoulders, and to which is attached a dress As shown, the flange or extension ture M, and flowing skirt portions Q, suflicient to reach to the base or practically cover The'operating device or bulb it will be noticed is also within and covered by the pliable overhanging portions or skirt of the doll, being located adjacent to the'container, yet the bulb is handily operable by simply squeezing from the exterior, as indicated in Fig. 2. i r What is claimed is: I
A perfume atomizer consisting of the combination of the bottle for containing the material to be sprayed, a doll figure having a body portion and costumeportions adapted to enclose the bottle, and a stopper rigid with the body portion of the figure adapted to close the mouth of the bottle, a spray tube extending from the liquid Within the bottle said bulb to the interior of the bottle for through the stopper, thence through the doll causing the perfume to be delivered through figure to an exterior point convenient for said spray tube to the point of atomization 10 atomizer purposes, a spray bulb located bewhen said bulb is operated.
5 tween the bottle and the costume portions In testimony whereof, I have affixed my which enclose it and adapted to be operated signature hereto. While thus enclosed, and a connection from MABELLE A. MEYER.v
