The object oi the invention is to provide a. simple and eilicient clamp for use in sup porting the polish rod of a well drilling' rig: during the application or removal oi pump rods and particularly to provide a device.

movable toward and from the seat thereof, said block being provided at its inner end with a, seat for cooperating with that in the throat of the body member, and a pin transversely engaging registering openings in said body member and follower block, the opening in one of said members being elongated to form a slot disposed in oblique relation to the seat at the inner face of the block to cause an inward movement of the latter coincidentally with the longitudinal movement thereof.
