H. B. A. EVERSHED DUPLICATING MEANS Filed (kit. 19, 1920,
Patented June 25, I923 UNITE,
DUPLICATING MEANS.
Application filed October 19, 1920. Serial No. 417,876.
To all whom it may concern):
Be it known that I, HERBERT BRUNEL ARMrrAen Evnnsr-mn, of 13 Recreation Road, Guildford, Surrey, England, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Duplicating Means, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to duplicating appliances in which there is an arcuate body portion having at the ends means for enabling the ink supplying sheet and the stencilling sheet to be readily connected to and disconnected. from the said body portion, a handle being furnished at the back thereof for manipulating the appliance and enabling it to be rocked over the surface upon which it is desired the impressions of the stenciling sheet shall be made.
According to the invention an ink carrying or supplying pad and the sheet of stencilling paper disposed in front thereof are secured in position over an arcuate plate having projections for engaging with hooks or clips which I provide on the pad and over which the ends of the stencilling paper are passed and held by means of spring clips or other suitable meansv In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect the same will now be more fully described with the aid of the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a duplieating appliance embodying the invention.
Figures 2 and 3 are enlarged views hereinafter referred to.
a is the holder and b the plate of arcuatc formation secured to the holder for receiv ing the pad 0 of flannel or other appropriate ink absorbing or retaining material. The ends 6 of the plate extend or project slightly above the upper surface of the holder a and the pad 0 is provided at each extremity with the elongated hooks or clips 0 which engage the ends 6 of the plate 6, see Figure 2, to maintain the pad in position. One of the hooks or clips is shown separately at Figure 3 and consists of a metal strip or plate bent as shown and preferably formed with slits c which when the ends of the pad or felt material are placed within the groove 0 and the adjacent parts of the strip are clinched together enable the material to become firmly secured. T he turned over portion 0 of the said strip serves to afford a hook Whereb the pad may be readily attached to antdetached from the upstanding projections b of the plate 6, thereby permitting of the pads being quickly changed to be employed with a minimum of trouble. The stencilling paper (Z, is held or secured preferably by spring clips 6 pivotally secured to the holder at 6 the ends of the stencilling paper being passed over the clips 0 and under the cross bars 6 of the clips, see Fig ures 1 and 2. To prevent the ink on the pad oozing out at the sides when the duplicator is in operation the margin of said pad may be coated with varnish or other appropriate substance of an impervious nature.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a duplicating appliance, the combination comprising a body portion, an arouate plate below the body portion and extending above the same at each end of the appliance, a felt pad disposed over the said arcuate plate, a clip at each end of the appliance each adapted to engage one end of the said arcuate plate and one end of the said pad, a gripping device on the top of the appliance at each end, a stencil paper adapted to enclose the said pad and clips and to be gripped at each end by the said gripping device.
2. In a duplicating appliance, the combination comprising a body portion, an arcuate plate below the body portion and extending above the same at each end of the or renewed and of different coloured inks appliance, a felt pad disposed over the said arcuate plate, and a clip comprising a metal plate folded upon itself to enclose the pad at one end and having its other end folded over to form a hook to engage the extending portion of said arcuate plate.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
HERBERT BRUNEI. ARMITAGE EVERSHED.
