Be it known that I, F RANK R. MoGnr., a citizen of the United States7 and resident ofl Steubenville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Ohio, haveinvented certain new and useful improvements in Umbrella Racks, of which the following is aI specification.

This invention relates toumbrella racks adapted to be supported on a wall or other similar structure and has for one of its objects the provision of a rack of this class that will hold umbrellas in an inverted position and catch any water that may drip therefrom.

` Another object is to provide a novel combination of parts for removably supporting the rack upon a' wall or other similar structure. Y

A further object is to provide a rack composed of the novel combination of elements 1 described in the following specication and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

ln the drawings, Figure l is a front side elevation of an umbrella rack constructed in accordance with my invention.

Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.

Figure 3 is a side elevation thereof.

Figure a is an enlarged detail side elevation of the wall attaching hook and the upper portion of the wall shield.

Figure 5 is an enlarged plan of one of the clamp members adapted to hold the umbrellas in position.

Referring particularly to the drawings, the letter t designates the` combined wall shield and drip pan as a whole which is composed of an integral plate having its` side edges bent forwardly forming narrow side portions 2 and having its bottom bent or curved forwardly or outwardly to form' a curved drip pan 8. The flat portion of the plate between the pan 3 and the upper terminal of the plate forms the wall shield portion 4. The upper portion of the plate is bent back upon itself for a short length forming a double thickness of metal, then it is bent rearwardly at right angles to the Vertical axis of the plate and has its edge curled or bent back upon itself to form ad round tubular terminal 5, the right angled portion and tubular terminal 5 forming a spring catch member 6.

The portion of plate formed of double thickness is bent or curved rearwardly forming a hook portion 7 adapted to be supported or engaged over a plurality of wall j bracket members 8.

j rPhe wall bracket members 8 are prefer` ably formed as a. single casting or forging and. comprise a flat back platefportion 9 having an integral upwardly and outwardly convenly curved hook portion l0 projecting from' its upper edge, and an integral outwardly projecting lug ll at its lower edge which has its forward end l2' projected or curved siightly downwardly. n

The hook portionr of the combined wall shield and drip pan i is adapted 'to fit snugly over the hook portions i0 of bracket members S, and the rolled tubular edge or terminal 5 of the catch member 6 is adapted to be forced under' the lug 1l and engaged behind the downwardly projecting end l2 thereof, so as to firmly, yet detachably, secure the combined wall shield and drip pan to the wall. j

A plurality of metallic clamp members B are secured to and project from the wall shield a adjacent its upper edge, and are composed of a single piece of metal bent upon itself to form `the base'portion la, and parallel clamping arms 15 which are offsety interinediate their `ends to form an engaging socket 16 adapted to fit around an umbrella tip, and having their free ends curved or flared outwardly to form a Y-shaped entrance to facilitate the insertion of the um brella tips therebetween.

, While I have rillustrated and described but one preferred form of my invention it will be understood `that various modifications in design and combination of parts may be made without departing from the scope of my invention as defined in the appended claims. For instance various forms of clamping members may be used to hold the umbrellas in position, and modified con structions of wall` brackets may be substituted for the form shown.

I claim zl. An umbrella rack 4comprising in combination a plurality of rigid wall bracket members adapted to be rigidly secured to a supporting structure, said bracket members comprising a back plate, an integral upwardly and outwardly conveXly curved hook portion projecting from the upper edge of said back plate, and an integral outwardly projecting lug projecting from the lower edge of said back plate, said lug having its forward end projecting downwardly, and a combined wall shield and drip pan adapted to be securely supported by said bracket members, said wall shield and drip pan comprising an integral metal plate having its upper end doubled over upon itself for a portion of its length to 'form a. double thickness and then bent outwardly at right angles to the'v'ertical axis of 4the plate and provided with a curled tubular edge to form a spring catch portion, the upper portion or the double thickness ot plate being curved rearwardly to form a rigid hook portion adapted to engage over the hook portionsof said wall bracket members, and said spring catch portion being adapted to engage under the bottom lugs of said wall bracket members, and said plate having its lower end curved and projected forwardly to iorm a drip pan portion. f

An umbrella rack -con'iprising in combination 'a plurality7 of wall brac ret members adapted to be rigidly secured to a supporting structure, said bracket members comprising a back plate, an integral upwardly and outwardly conveXly curved hook portion projecting Jfrom the upper edge oit' said back plate, and an integral outwardly projecting lug projecting from the lower edge of said back plate, said lug having its forward end projecting downwardly, and a combined wall shield and drip pan adapted to be securely supported by said bracket members, said wall shield and drip pan comprising an integral metal plate having means adjacent its upper edge for resiliently engaging over the hook portion and under the bottom lug of said wall brackets, and said plate having its lower end curved and pro` j ected forwardly to form a drip pan portion.

An umbrella rack comprising in combination a plurality of rigid wall bracket members adapted to be rigidly secured to a supporting structure, said bracket members comprising a back plate, an integral` upwardly and outwardly conveXly curved hook portion projecting from. the upper edgeot' said back plate, and an integral outwardly projecting lug projecting from the lower edge of said back plate, said lug having its forward endprojecting downwardly, and a combined wall shield and drip pan adapted to be securely supported by said bracket members, said wall shield and drip pan come prising an integral metal plate having meansr adjacent its upper edge tor resiliently engaging over the hook portion and under the bottom lug of said wall brackets, and a plurality of clamp members secured to said plate ttor holding umbrellas in an inverted position, said plate having its lower end curved and projected forwardly to form a drip pan portion adapted to underlie umbrellas held by said clamp members.
