Be it known that we, HAROLD ARTHUR MOREY and CHRISTOPHER PHILIP ROBERTS WARREN, both subjects of the King of Great Britain, and both residents of the city of Sault Ste. Marie, in the district of Algorna, inthe Province of Untario, Canada, have jointly invented certain new and useful 1m-y provements in Paper-Core Bundling Devices, of which the following is the specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in paper core bundling devices and the object of the invention is to devise a simple means whereby a plurality of paper coresA may, when bundled together, be held securedly for shipment and such a device as may be easily and quickly applied with a minimum amount of labour and it consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained.

1 indicates a series of paper cores forming a bundle. 2 and 3 are retaining plates. Each plate 2 and 3 has a rolled edge 4 and cupped portions 5 depending from the plate and fitting within the hollow centre of each core thereby holding the cores in their proper relative position and together. 6 are rectangular orifices formed in the inner edge of each of the exterior portions 5 as clearly indicated in Fig. 4. 7 and 7X are bosses extending respectively from the upper and lowery faces of the plates 2 and 3. 8, 9, 10 and 11 are levers. The levers 8 and 9 are pivoted upon the boss 7. The levers 10 and 11 are pivoted upon the boss 7%. The opposing ends of the levers 9 and 10 overlap, and are pivotally connected together by a bolt or rivet 12. rlhe opposing ends of the levers 11 and 8 are pivoted together by ay bolt 13.
The ends of the levers 8 and 10 are provided with outturned extensions 14C and15 having the ends 16 and 17 turned outward at right angles to the extensions and in which are formed orifices 18 and 19. |lhe portion 17 is provided with a further extension portion 20 extending horizontally outward. 21 is a bolt extending through the orifices 18 and 19 and provided at one end with a squared head 22 against which the extension portion 2O bears so as to prevent it turning. 23 is a nut which is threaded upon the opposite end of the bolt. 211 and 25 are lingers i extending downward from the ends of the lever extensions 1/1y and 15. The opposite end of the lever 8 is provided with an extension 26 from which depends a finger 27. ylhe corresponding end of the lever 9 is also provided with an extension 28 provided with an extension 28 provided with a depending finger 29.
The opposite ends of the levers 10 and 11 are provided with extensions 30 and 31 provided with depending fingers 32 and 33. rilhe fingers 24 and 25, 27 and 29,32 and 33 depend through the orifices 6 and are offset inward at 34C as indicated in Fig. 6 so that the lower portion of the finger bears against the interior periphery of the hollow core centre. By tightening the nut 23 upon the bolt 21 the .inner ends of the levers 8, 9, 1() and 11 are drawn inward forcing the opposite ends of the levers in the opposite direction and the depending lingers 24: and 25, 27 and 29, 32 and 33 carried thereby against the interior periphery of each of the exterior paper cores thereby positively holding them together'. compression spring 35 so that when the nut 23 is loosened the levers will be carried outward so as to free the bundles and permitof the easy withdrawal of the retaining plates 2 and 3.
