l. A. WASILIEFF CLOTHESLINE BRACKET Filed July 18 @malo [WA M5L-eff i We gea/ung ftorlzy' Patented June' 5, 1923.
I I'vAN-AfWAsILIEFF, on BRIDGEPORT; CONNECTICUT."
CLOTHESLINE BRACKET.
Application :filed July 18, 1921. Serial No. 485,727.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IVAN A'. WASILIEFF, a citizen of; Russia, residing at Bridgeport, county of Fairfield, and State of Connecticut, havel invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothesline Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in clothes hangers, and it is the principal object of the invention to provide a clothes hanger whereby the clothes may be hung up to dry out of doors by va person within a building and whereby the` clothes can be readily removed from the lines after drying, also from a point within the building, thus avoiding the danger of death or injury to persons falling from a window while occupied with hanging or `removing wash.
Another object of the invention is to provide a clothes hanger which may be readily attached to the window or door of a building exteriorly ofthe building so as to allow a turning of the pulley suspension arm in any direction for allowing a swinging of this arm and its. pulley into the building for the convenient hanging of the articles upon and removing the same from the device.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a clothes hanger which is provided with suitable guides for the clothes line, and adapted to be braced, and which permits the clothes fastening elements to be used or removed without danger of damaging or losing the same.
'These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a device constructed according to my invention illus-' trating its'position when swung into a buildigure 2 is a similar view illustrating the position of the device when swung out of a building. f
Figure 3 is a vertical section through the tubular arms and co-operati-ng parts, Figure 4 is a detail view of a ring nut and eferring more particularly to the 'drawu ing, it will be understood that-the device is to be used in combination with van ordinary l' pulley which is attached to any suitable sup# port in the well known manner.
My device comprises a tubular arm 10 provided with rotatable sleeves or'bands 11 and 12 attached to the arm in spaced rela- 60 y tion and provided with angularly disposed fastening wings 13 and 14 respectively so that the device may be secured to the edge i of a window *by` bolts 15 orthe like passed through the perforations 16 in saidbands. 55 f Above one of the sleeves, 11,- the arm 10 carries a T-sleeve 17 provided with inner i threads in one of its arms for the reception of the exteriorly threaded end 18 of an arm 19.
A rotatable ring v20 or tightening nut provided with a plurality of perforations 21 is provided at the outer end of the lT sleeve and can be tightened by the introduction of a pin, for instancevthe pin 21 of a 75` suitable tool (Fig. 4:) into the perforations of the ring in order'to lock arm 19 which is. rotatable in the T sleeve 17 in any of the positions of its angular branch 19 to the T ysleeve for keeping the clothes line'taut, 80 and for allowing a' convenient kguiding of the line over head 21 and around the rotatable sleeve 22 before swinging the line out of a window.
The outer free end 'of the armv 19 carriesk V815 an angular arm 19" to which is attached hook 23 from which a clothes line pulley 24 is suspended in the .well knownV mannerv for guiding the clothes line 25 in the manner in# dicated in Figure 1.
The operation of the device will be clear f from the above description without further explanation,v and it will be clear that the device illustrated is showing the preferred form only and that changes may be-` made 96 inthe general arrangement and in the construction of the minor details without departing from the scope and spirit of my invention. y f
What I claim as new and desire to protect 100 by a United States patent is--- In a clothes hanger of theI character described, the Combinationgofv a tubular arm, spaced sleeves in which said arm is rotatably secured, perforated wings on said sleeves for allowing a securing of the device to a window or door frame by the passing of fastening sleeve, nieans for looking said arm in any means through the perforations in said o its adJusted positions to the T-sleeve, and Wings, a T sleeve on said arm, a head on the a pulley on said angular` arm for guiding a 10 'upper end of said arm, a rotatable sleeve on clothes line. f
said arm between said head and T sleeve for In testimony whereof I have affixed my guiding the clothes line, an angular arm signature.
adjustably attached With one end to said T n g IVAN A. WASILIEFF.
