IMPROVEMENT lN TOOL-HOLDERS FOR LATHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.145,684, dated D(!L1L( r 16, 1873; application iiled DJCCIIlbEI 1, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEWIS REDER, of Wilmington, in the county of New Castle and State of Delaware, have invented a new and Improved Tool-Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to theaccompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a central vertical section. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the washer. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the shoe.
The invention relates to the tool-holder of a slide-lathe; and consists in a novel mode of rendering the tool adjustable in height and pitch, as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
A represents a tool-post, slotted to receive therethrough the tool B, and provided with the usual clamp setscrew O, that bears on the upper surface of tool. D is a subjacent washer, which has the usual inclines (Z d to hold. the tool in position; but instead of making these reversed inclines of the same height, I place the one, d, higher than the other, d, and employ a shoe, E, which has its reversely-inclined ends 0 0 ,made correspondingly to those of the washer.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with tool holder A, of washer D and shoe E, the two having corresponding inclines d d and e c, as and for the purpose described.
