To all 10 710m it may concern.
Be it known that I, EnNnsr Parana subject of the King-of Great Britain, residing at Kemp shott, London Road, 'Norbury, in; the county of Surrey, in England, have'invented a new and useful Improvement in Tables Adapted to be Used as Cookery Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to pro vide a table which is adapted to be used as a cookery cabinet and to conveniently hold all the necessary materials and appliances used in cookery. 5
The table according to my invention comprises legs and framing of the usual kind, having a top made in two sections, one of which is movable andbeneath which is arranged a hinged box or cabinet adapted to be lifted with the movable section of the table top.
In the accompanying drawings, Fig. 1, is a sectional elevation showing the invention closed for use as a table in full lines, and open for use as a cookery cabinet in dotted lines; Fig. 2, is a plan with the table top removed and the cabinet in its closed position; Fig. 3, shows a suitable form of lock for securing the tabletop to the cabinet, and Fig. l, shows an arrangement for lock-- ing the cabinet and table top to the framing.
According to the invention I provide table legs'a and framing b of the usual, kind but I having an underneath board 0 completely closing in the framing b.
The table top is made in two portions d and e, the portion (Z being secured to the framing b in the usual manner. The por-- tion 6 is hinged to the portion d by any suitable hinges 7 that will present a flush surface when the portion '6 is in its closed position, and is preferably larger than the portion (1 so that when folded back it will give a large area upon which to work.
The underside of the portion 6 is covered with enamelled iron or any other suitable material 6 to serve, when folded back, as a clean and hygienic surface for rolling pastry and the like.
Within the framing Z) and hingedly attached to a partition I) I providea box 9 having shelves 7L adapted to hold receptacles 2' containing such materials as currants, sugar, rice and-the like, and also having a small cupboard it provided with sliding doors to hold sundry packages.
The g is providedfvvith hinged arms which slide upon runners Z provided with recesses m to hold the box in its upright" position when it has been raised. 1
A suitable catch it is provided to lock. the,
box to the portion '6 of, the table top so that let into the portione when the, latter is raised, it raisestheboijzg with it.- A convenient form ,of catchis and a rod 22 having two 'projections' p at one end and a handle p at the other is connected to the-box g insuch a manner that when the parts 6 and g'are placed together the projections 12' pass throughthe slot in" v the plate 0 and the handle is-then'turned-so l Y 7 that the projections catch the sides 01 the plate as will be understood. The slot allowsf for the diilerentmo'vements of and g.
the parts 6 In the space between the board 0 andboii I I provide aboard gwhich can be used for I chopping suet' and the like; The drawer 4 is made of the framing b and is provided with a the whole width handle 8 at both ends. It is divided through its centre by a'paIti i II- and one halt' is a again divided by partitions u to provide spaces for knives, forks, and spoons, and alsov for receptacles for tea, cocoa .and the like.
' The other half'of the drawer is adapted to be used asa fiour bin and is provided with acover to sliding in slots w, hangs on two fittings 1n the flour bln. A
A pastry 011 ball or other suitable catch 3 is fittedat, each end of the drawer to keep it in place when I closed. It will be seen that a drawerso j constructed can be drawn out much "fartherthan those at present provided, without fear of it coming out of its runners.
A spring catch 9' is provided toautomat i I ically lock the box ,9 and table top 6 when v closed so that the whole table may be lifted.
A convenientiorm of lock is shown in Fig.
