' Be it known that we, LEWIS 'L. SWEET and I MIKE MORLEY, oitizenslof the United States,
residing at Wallace,in the city of Shoshone and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ball Mills, of which the following is a specificationi This invention"relates to. apparatus for grinding'ore and other material, 'and'more particularly to grinding mills oftheball and drum type. 3 I V It is the object "of the present invention to provide a 'grinding mill of the kind stated embodying certain novel and improved features of construction and modes of operation to be hereinafter'described and claimed, and inorder that the same may be better understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, wherein, Figure 1 is an elevation of the mill;

Referring specifically to the drawings, the rotary drum is composed of two end sections or heads 5, connected on the inside by an annular series of liner plates 6, which latter therefore form the side of the drum. To the heads are also connected, on the outside thereof, cylindrical plates 7 which extend inwardly toward each other, but only partly across the drum, so that they are spaced at their inner ends, and there is left in the side and intermediate the ends of the drum, an opening 8 which is spanned by the plates 6 and extends completely around the drum circumferentially to form an outlet for the ground or crushed material. To the inner edges of the plates 7 are secured angle irons 9. The liner plates 6 are provided with perforations or apertures 10 to permit passage of the crushed material'to the side outlet 8 of the drum. The drum heads 5 have hollow trunnions 11 through which thematerial to be round is fed into the drum.

By means of bolts 12 passing through the overlapping ends of the liner plates and through the drum ends 5, the latter are rigidly connected. The bolts 12 also pass through the plates 7 for securing the same to the drum ends. Adjacent plates 6 are, also bolted together intermediate their ends, as
