- Application filed February 17,1922.- Serial No. 537,340.
. To all whom it may concern.
Be'it known that I, EL ER G. FIPPEN- GER, a citizen of the United States, resid ing at Nekoosa, inthe county of Woodand State of Wisconsin, have invented-certain new and useful Improvements in Blowersfor'Silos, of which the following is a specification. w p
The present invention relates to blowers forisilos andhas for its principal object to provide an extensible discharge pipe therefor which is conveniently operated and which may be placedin' a convenient position in relation to the table when not in use.
With the above and numerousother ob Figure 4 is a perspective view of one end 1 of the table showing the blower casing,
Figure 5 is a fragmentary longitudinal section through the discharge pipe, and
Figure 6 is a horizontal section through the device, and r 1 "Figure 7 is a transverse section taken on the line 7-7 of Figure 5.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that 1' designates the usual table supported on the frame 2 mounted on the wheels 3. This table may be of any preferred or conventional construction and has mounted at one end thereof a bracket 4 to which is attached the blower casing. The blower casing is formed in two sections which are separable from each other. One of the sections 5 is'rigidly attached to the bracket 4 and has a tube 6 leading therefrom to the upper side. of the table 1. A pair of arm brackets 7 extend from the table above and beyond the section 5 and terminate in trunnion receiving portions 8 which receive the trunnions' 9 carried by the collar 10 which supports the discharge E'NT] .o 'Flcs.
pipe. This discharge pipe formed from a plurality of telescopically assoeiatedgsections. The lower or main. section 11- is mounted on the blower casing section 1 12; and the collar .10 is also mounted on the main section 11 in such a manner'that when T the discharge pipe is rotated on the trimtion 5 so as to form a 'completepblower; In the present illustration, I haveshown three sections ofthedefiector-but it isofco-urse understoodthat there maybe anydesired number and that the present-illustration is merely given by way of example. The intermediate section 13' is flared at its bottom end as at 14 and is movable within the section 11. The top section 15 is also flared at its bottom end at 14 and its upper end is provided with a curved deflector 16. The
;' nioiis 9 the section '12 will. engage the secsections 11 and 12 have journalled therein adjacent their upper ends thepulleys 17. A collar 18 is provided adjacent the bottom end of the section 15 and-a plurality of cables. 19 are attached thereto at one end and are trained over the pulleys 17 in the section 13 and are connected-"to a collar 20 at the upper end of the section l1 so that when the section 13 is raised the its pulleys 17 and the ends thereof are at tached to a suitable collar provided at the bottom of the section 13. The other ends of these cables 22 are trained about a plu rality of drums 25 which are keyed toshafts 26 that are journalled in the bracket arms 27 at one end and in the section 11 at the other ends or rather in a suitable collar provided for this purpose. It "will be noticed that each of the drums 25 is provided with a beveled gear 28 and that the beveled gears mesh with each other so that upon rotation of one of the drums all of the drums will be operated in unison. One of the drums is provided with a crank 29-for rotation thereof. It willtherefore readily be seen by an inspection of the drawing that when the cables 22 are wound about downwardly so as to extend parallel with. the table. 1 and a suitable hook 30 is engageable with the eye 31' so as to hold the parts inthe position as shown in Figure 2, This feature of the device is controlled by the cable 33 wound about the drum 34 carried bythe frame 2 and fixed at one end to the movable case section 12. "For 'c0nven-' ience I have designated the dischargepipe by the letter D and fan blower casing by the letter B. This fan, casing has suitable fastening devices 36 so as to hold the parts in closediposition and these fastening devicesare' preferably of a resilient nature. Any suitable fan 38 is carried within the 5* casing 13- andtno detailed description'thereof is necessary; This fan maybe driven by a belt 39 pipe, the other of said sections fixed to said (not shown) trained over the pulley Having thus described my invention what discharge pipe, and means .whereby said discharge pipe may be rotatably mounted on said support'in the manner and for the purpose specified, I
' 2. In combination, a fan casing, comprising .a pair of sections, a support, one
' of said sections fixed to said support, a dis- :charge pipe, the othertof said sections fixed I to said discharge pipe, a bracket extending from said support, said discharge pipe-tub crumed on said bracket whereby it maybe rotated for placing together or separating,
the sections of the fan cases, andmeans for rotating the discharge pipe. to an operative I positio In test1mony whereof I affix signature in presence of two witnesses; I
' ELMER G. FIPPENGER.
