KARL PAUL GOTTSGHALK, or nnnsnnn, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR T0 HENRY STAIER or enunnu nnan nosswnrnsnxoiw, GERMANY. I
APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTING AND FIXING THE SETTING OB STRADDLING 0F PARTLY- CUT MATCHES OF PAPER, PASTEBOARD, 0R THE LIKE AND STILL CONNECTED IN THE SHAPE OF A CONTINUOUS STRIP 0R BAND.
Application filed March 25, 1922. Serial No. 546,945.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KARL PAUL Gown soHALK, engineer, a subject of the Republic of Saxony, German Republic, and resident of 19 Reickerstrasse, Dresden, Republic of Saxony, German Republic, have invented a new and useful apparatus for adjusting and fixing the setting or straddling of partlycut matches of paper, pasteboard, or the like and still connected in the shape of a continuous strip or band, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has for its object an apparatus for adjusting and fixing the setting or straddling of partially cut matches of paper, pasteboard or the like and still connected together in the shape of a continuous strip or band.
The apparatus for adjusting and fixing the setting or straddling mentioned consists in a known manner of two wheels g aring together, so called straddle-wheels, through which the partially cut matches still connected together as an endless band are passed in such a manner that the matches following each other are mutually bent once to the right and once to the left, therefor alternately to both sides, i. e. straddled.
The endless band consisting of the separate matches is, during its longitudinal movement, kept and guided between two delivery-rollers. Now the novelty of the present invention consists in that the mutual distances of the delivery-rollers and the wheels gearing together, the so-called straddlewheels, can be varied and the matches following each other thus more or less set or straddled to both sides by varying the distances mentioned. j
A guidebar of triangular section or otherwise shaped is arranged in rear of the wheels gearing together and serves as a support for the matches set or straddled to both sides of the bar and for fixing the setting or straddling.
The object of the present invention is represented on the drawin annexed as an example of construction. *ig. 1 is a sideelevation and a partial section and Fig. 2
the rollers. c 0 are fastened. The endless band a is guided between the rollers c 0 d 03 are setting or straddling wheels fastened to the shafts b b and gearing together. The distance between the deliverywheels 0 c and the setting or straddlingwheels (Z 652 can suitably be varied and adusted, for instance by a displacement of the setting or straddling wheels along their shafts, b 5
By the adjustment of this distance the degree of setting or straddling the matches following each other can be controlled so that the setting or straddling will become the larger, the nearer the delivery and setwheels are adjusted to each other.
e is a guide-bar which serves to ensure the set or straddled position of the matches and is of triangular or any other suitable shape so that the matches straddled to both sides run, so as to speak, onto said guide-bar. In this manner the set or straddled position of the matches is ensured and the set or straddled matches are guided in a uniform height above the dip-disc during the dippingoperation.
l vhat I claim is:
1. In an apparatus for adjusting and fixing the setting or straddling of partly cut matches of paper, paste board or the like and still connected together in the shape of an endless strip or band in combination with delivery rollers for moving or supplying the endless band mentioned, of wheels gearingtogether for passing the band to be set or straddled between their teeth and for alternately bending the partly cut matches to both sides of the band and means for and still connected together in the shape of an endless stripe or band, in combination With delivery-rollers for moving or supplying the endless band mentioned, of Wheels gearing together for passing the band to be set or straddled between their teeth and for alternately bending the partly out matches to both sides of the band, means for Varying and adjusting the setting or straddling, and
a guide-bar arranged in rear of the Wheels mentioned for fixing the obtained setting or 10 straddling of the matches.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name this 15th day of February, 1922.
KARL PAUL GOTTSCHALK.
