; FLOWER STAND. I
Application filed June 22,
has particular reference to a stand for supporting potted plants with a drain device associated with the stand to prevent the overflow of water from the stand when the plants are being watered.
I The primaryobject of the invention resides in the provision of a stand especially designed for growing flowers in earthenware pots'with a drain device associated with the table or stand top positioned above a waste receptacle supported beneath the stand to prevent the overflow of water from the stand during the watering of "the plants' The invention further embodies in a flower stand of the type above setforth the pro-,
vision of a rotatable table top for purposes of varying the positions of plants with respect to the light from windows.
With the'above general obgects 1n View and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel'form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed In the drawings, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the' sever'al views, i
, Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a flower stand constructeol'in accordance with the present invention, showing the centrally positioned drain spout carried by the table top extending into the apertured cup se cured to the upper end of the stand and the drain receptacle, shown by dottedlines, supported on "a platform intermediate the vupper and lower ends of the stand legs,
FigureQ is a fragmentary top 'plan'vie'w with the tray upontheftable top partially broken away to show the drainspout,
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view of a modified form of the invention showing the drain spout detachably connected to the table top and the tubular member carried by the stand for supporting the table top,

.Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view Figure 5isa detail sectional view showu disclosed in Fig. 3, and the table top and spout associated therewith, Y I j Figure 6 is 'a front elevational view of a modified form of stand with the base portion thereof embodying a caster supported platform, I r 1 Figure 7 1s a side elevational view ofthe table, taken at right angles 'to the 'showing in Fig. 6, I
Figure 8 is a horizontal sectional View of the table shown in Figs. 16' and 7,
Figure 9 is aside elevational view'of another modified form of stand,
inga portion of the upper end of the stand F'gure 10 is a perspective view of -the apertured cup associated with the drain' spout, and 1 Figure 11 is a perspective'view of the tray removed from the table top. I Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawings, and particularly to Figures 1' and 2, there is illustrateda flower stand embodying supportingglegs' 1 outwardly bowed as at l adjacent the upper ends thereofwith a platform '2 supported by the legs upon" which a drain receptacle 3, shown by dotted lines is placed.- The upper ends of the; legs 1 are connected by a plate 4 having the central opening 5 thereain for purposes presentlyto appear. A table top 6 having a marginal upwardly directed rim or flange' 7 issupported onthe plate 4 and carries a centrally positioned depending drain spout 8 projecting through the opening 5 in the plate' iand materially spaced from the'side wailsof said opening as indicatedin Fig. A bell-shaped cup- 9 provided with a ,drain'opening 10 in the 7 lower end thereof, carries at its upper end: a circular collar or flange 11 thatis received in the opening 5 and frictionally engages the wallof said opening-and issuitably securedasby welding, to the table tape. A
disk tray 12 havingspacedsupporting feet 1 13 is placed upon the table top fioverlyi'ng the opening 5ja'nd drain spout 8 for the purpose of hidingthe drain from view.
As shown in Fig. l, by dotted lines, potted plants 14 are placed on the table top 6 and the tray 12, and waste water therefrom will be delivered to the drain spout- 8 and aper; turedcup 9 for discharging into the waste receptacle 3 in an obvious manner. With a device of this character, it will be seen that unusual care in the Watering of potted plants is not required, as the waste water therefrom is directed into a receptacle in-- tended therefor.
In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 3 to 5, the legs of the stand are perpendicular throughout their length, and support a platform 2* adjacent the lower end thereof. The upper ends of the legs 15 carry inwardly directed brackets 16 that support a tubular member 17. The table top 6 has a central opening 18' formed therein that is surrounded by a depending spout that carries an outwardly directed flange 19 at itsupper end for detachable engagement with the table top 6 as indicated at20. The waste water gathering upon the table top 6 is delivered through the spout 8 into a suitable receptacle placed upon the platform 2*, the table top 6 and drain spout 8 carried thereby being bodily removable from the, tubular supporting member 17. Another form of the invention is show in Figs. 6, 7 and 8, the same embodying a pair of outwardly arched or reversely curved side legs 21 that are connected at their lower ends to a block 22 upon a base platform including a cross arm 23 and transverse legs 24 that are supported by rollers or casters 25. The upper ends of the legs'Ql are associated with a plate 4 and table top 6 as described in connection with the preferred form of the invention 'From the above detail description of the device, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent, it beingnoted that waste water draining from the flower pot 14b is received upon the table top member and delivered through the spouts to waste receptacles supported on the platform. I
lVhilethere are herein shown and described the preferred embodiments of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope thereof as claimed;
tioned depending drain pipe, and a plat--- form carried by the stand for supporting a waste receptacle beneath the drain pipe.
2. In a flower stand of the type described, supporting legs, a table top rotatably carried thereby and having a centrally positioned depending drain pipe, a platform carried by the stand for supporting a waste receptacle beneath the drain pipe, and an apertured cup enclosing the drain pipe and secured to the table top. 3. In a'flower stand of the type described, supporting legs, a table top carried thereby and having a centrally positioned depending drain pipe, a platform carried by the stand for supporting a waste receptacle beneath the drain pipe, and a tray having supporting feet resting upon the table top and overlying the drain spout. I
In a flower stand of the type described, supporting legs, a platform carried by said legs adjacent the lower ends thereof, a tubular supporting member carried the upper ends of said legs, a table top removably supportedwithin the tubular member,
and a drain spout carried by the table top extending through said tubular member.
'5. In a flower stand of the type described, supporting legs, a platform carried by said legs intermediate the ends thereof, a plate connecting, the upper ends of said legs and having a central opening therein, a table top resting upon said plate, a depending centrally positioned drain spout carried by the table top extending through said plate opening and spaced from thewalls thereof, and a flanged apertured cup enclosing the drain spout with the flange thereof, frictionally engaging the side walls of the plate opening. i
6. In a flower stand of the type described, supporting legs,'a platform carried by said legs intermediate the ends thereof, a plate connecting the upper endsof said legs and having a central opening therein, a table top resting upon said plate, a depending centrally positioned drain spout carried by the table top extending through said plate opening and spaced from the wallsthereof, a flanged apertured cup enclosing the drain spout with the flange thereof frictiona-lly engaging the side walls of the plate opening, and a tray supported on the table top above the drain spout. I
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ALOYSIUS NIEMCZ EWSKI.
