To allee/liant itmay/ concern.' i' Y f Be 1t known that we, THOMASG. Finis HOUR and BERT M. JENNINGS', citizens ot' the United States,r residing at Troy,v in the county of Miami and Stateof Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improve? ments ink Garment-Forni `Supporters7 of which the following is aspecification, reference being had therein tothe accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in garment-form supporters. y
.The essential object of ourinventionis to providersueh a supporter with an expansible shoulder rest and an expansiblehipl rest,
whereby various sizes of these garments. fOI'TIIs may be readilyan'd quickly positioned and held lfor use in fitting the garments to the.i"orm's. f y f t v O'ur invention also includes provision not` only for lateral adjustmentof such shoulder rests and hip rests,- but for relative.verticaly adjustment of these members so as to accommodate garment forms of varying .lengths as well as varying lateral` dimensions. n
In the accompanying drawings,
Fig. l is` a sideelevationy of our garmentf. form supporter in its entirety; y
Fig-2 is a view of such a ygarment `form will be appliedto our supporter; Y
Fig. 3 is a-.plan view of th'elshoulder-rest features and y Fig. 4 is a plan view tures.
Fig. 2 is in common use among dress makers, and garment fitters.
The object in view is toprovide a supporter for the variousV sizes and shapes of these garment forms. To this endfour supporter consists of a hollowV or tubular base lpost l having a fixed collar 2 to which are attached severa-l legs 3 by pivot bolts 4. This collar is at asuitable point above the lower end of the post and on the post below the collar is iitted a slidable sleeve 5 held in adjusted' positions by a set screw 6 and having pivoted to it a brace 7 for each leg- 3. Pivot bolts 8 connect the braces with the sleeve 5 and pivots 9 connect them with the legs 3. By sliding the sleeve to diiierent positions the-legs will be spread outward or drawn inward to ac-` commodate them to the available iioor space where the supporteris set up.
The post carries a nxed band or :terrule 10 of the hip rest l fea-` y.
Thesev forms' `come y in various sizes and various forms of outline.

When they are to be contracted the sleeve 38 is moved downward or the' sleeve 24' upward. `VpVhen the elevation*v of the hip rest ispto be changed both of the sleeves 2i and 38 are moved onthe post l2, upward or downward, according to the distance desired between the hip rest and the shoulder rest., y I -k lt will now be seen that with our garmentform supporter we provide for all of the possible adjustments that may be needed to accommodate it to the varioussizes of garment forms, ,bot-h as regards lengthwise and lateral dimensions. And also that the form is firmly held and conveniently Vpositioned and made fully accessible when applied to our supporter.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters lPatent, is
1. in a garment form supporter, the combination with a post having, a suitable base;
of a shoulder rest mounted on the post and including' a fined collar, a lateral plate formed integrally with the collar and eX- tending in opposite directions therefrom at each end, shoulder pieces slidably mounted on the plate at each end thereof and having pin and slot connection therewith, a slidable sleeve mounted on said post, linlrs each having one end connected to the slidable sleeve and the other end connected to a respective shoulder piece; and a hip rest comprising pair of sleeves slidable on said post and movable 'independently of each other, radial arms projecting from one of said sleeves, slides each having pin and 'slot connection with a respective arm, braces each having one end pivoted to a respective slide and the other end pivoted to the remaining sleeve of said pair, hip rests mount- Ved on the outer ends of said slides, andv means fio-hold the several sleeves in adjusted positions. f 2. In a garment form supporter, the combination with a posthaving a suitable base; of a shoulder rest mounted on the post and including a fixed collar, a lateral plate formed integrally with the collar and eX- tending in opposite direct-ions therefrom at each end, shoulder pieces slidably mounted on the plate at each end thereof and having,r pin and slot connection therewith, a slidable sleeve mounted on said post, links each havingone end connected to the slidable sleeve and the other end'conneeted to a respective shoulder piece; and a hip rest con'iprising a pair of sleeves slidable on said post `and Vmovable independently of each other, radial arms projecting lfrom one of said sleeves, slides each having pin and slot connection with a respective arm, braces each having,- one end pivoted to a respective slide and the other end pivoted to the remainingi` sleeve of said pair, hip rests mounted on the outer ends of said slides, and means to hold the several sleeves in adjusted positions; and a hollow post receiving the lower end of the first mentioned post, means to adjust the first mentioned post within the hollow post, a fixed sleeve on said hollow post, a slidable sleeve on said hollow post, legs pivoted to the fixed sleeve, and links each having one end pivoted to respective lee; and the other leg pivoted to the slidable sleeve.
3. In a garment form supporter, the combination with a post having a suitable base; of a shoulder rest mounted on the post and including a fixed collar, a lateral plate formed'integrallywith the collar` and eX- tending in opposite directions therefrom at each end, shoulder pieces slidably mounted on the plate at each end thereof and having pin and slot connection'therewith, a slidable sleeve mounted on said post, links each having one end connected to the slidable sleeve, the other end connected to a respective shoulder piece; and a hip rest comprising a pair of sleeves slidable on said post and movable independently of each other, radial arms having their inner ends pivoted to one of said sleeves, slides each having pin and slot connection with a respective arm, braces each having one end pivoted to a respective slide and the other end' pivoted to the remaining sleeve of said pair, hip rests mounted on the outer ends of said slides, and means to hold the several sleeves in adjusted positions.
In testimony whereof, we aflix our signatures.
