of which the following specification.
This invention relates to combination fixtures for lavatories and analogous devices. l 4
Combination fixtures for lavatories comprise7 generally stated, the hot and cold water connections from suitable supply pipes, delivering, in modern plumbing, through a common supply spout or'faucet, but se arately controlled; such independent contro ling devices or stop cocks t'or the hot and 'cold water; and a bowl waste, with or without a waste overtlow,lwith waste controlling means. Such fixtures are of metal and are fitted to lavat rybowls and slabs by the plumber in installing the plumbing. It has been necessary, inthe art of fitting up lavatories asnow practiced, to make fixtures and fittings for the particular bowl and slab with which they are used so as to permit proper and ready installation, and variations in styles of bowls and slabs with respect to dimensions, spacing of fixture holes, thickness oi" bowl walls, and the like, have necessitated, to a considerable extent, the making ot fixtures for each particular style or variation in bowl and slab.
The present development is intended to overcome this difficulty and provide a lavatory combination which is adaptable to bowls ot' various styles and dimensions within a wide range. This result is accomplishedby providing faucet and waste connections'and mountings which permit great flexibility in the matter of placing them,
bot-h with relation to one another and with A relation to the holes or passages through the vitreous' or other ware of which the bowls and slabs are ordinarily forme-d. As a result-of our inventiona` fixture is pro-l vided which may be adapted bythe plumber to a wide range of lavatories, and the necessity of special fittings for different installatons is largely done away with.

In the present case it is shown as of vitreous ware and as having walls ot! considerable thickness, but will be under stood that it may be varied as to material, dimensions, and design, as lthe bowl proper forms no part of our invention and the fixture devised by us may be adapted to difierent bowls.
The said bowl 10 has a waste-outletprovided with a fitting-13, and may be provided with an overow 14 leading to the waste passage below the outlet 13, ailtho gh' such overtlow may be omitted if desire-vc, and in some types of bowls, as, for example, those formed of relatively thin enamelled iron, is not present,-Without affecting the application of our novel fixture to the'bowl.`

The operating rod 39 for the waste stopper il is threaded at its lower end, preferably in the manner shown in Fig. l, into an L-shaped member 'l2the other arm of which carries a pin 40 adjustably mounted therein. which engages a verticatlydisposed lifter rod 43 passing through a smiling-box 4A- into the waste stopper casing '45, the lower end of the lifter rod 43 passing through an aperture in a guiding lug 46 on the wastecasing to steady and guide its movements. Adjustably mounted on, the lifter rod 43 is a fork 47, which straddles the lower end of the waste stopper lll.. The stopper 4l, at 'its lower end, is grooved at 48 and flattened on opposite sides 49, as shown in Fig. 5, so as to permit disengagement of the parts by turning the waste stopper until the flattened portions 49 register with the fork 47. where upon the waste stopper may be Withdrawn. In order that the waste stopper 'l\l may be locked in place against accidental removal, it is preferably slotted at [50, as shown in Fig. l, which slot is en. gaged by a screw 5l threaded in the wall of the casing 45, the slot being .of suflicient length to permit the stopper to be raised and lowered through the lifting devices just described.
In order that this waste operating assembly" just described may be fitted to basins of different thickness, the casing 45 is threaded at its upper end to the Waste outlet pipe 13, which is threaded throughout the greater part of its length, there being a suitably packed joint between the top of the casing and the bottom of the bowl, as
shown in Fig. 1. To adapt the device to bowls of different thicknesses, the'casing 45 and the waste outlet 13 ywill simply be screwed together to meet the particular dimensions of the bowl, and the lifter rod 43, its fork 47 and the operating connections with the lifter. rod 39 will be adjusted to meet these different conditions. By this construction, the waste fitting can be adapted to a great variety vof bowls of different thicknesses, and bowls in which the waste outlet is differently positioned with respect to the Afaucet or spout holes in the slab, for. it will be seen that the pin is adjustably mounted in the L-shaped member 39 so that it may be elongated or shortened to take care of different spacings of the hole for the waste in the bowl and the hole for the supi ply spout in the slab.
In that form of the invention disclosed in Fig. 7, the construction is generally, the same as that heretofore described. The hot and cold water cocks 52 are arranged similarly to that construct-ion heretofbre described, and the supply spout 53 and the waste 54 and waste connections are all ,identical with the form just discussed. j Intitl :stead of providing the two swiveling elbows, however, as in the forms heretofore set forth. we have provided a double arm swiveling connection 55, as shown, :which 'is coupled to the shank of the supply spout 53 in a similar manner tothat in which` the independently swiveling elbow connections are connected, namely,'by pack joints as shown, and by the coupling 5() threaded to the lower rnd ot the tube 57, which traverses the supply spout. The supply connection 58 will couple this double arm elbow with the cock bodies on either side in exactly the same manner as that heretofore disclosed.
With this construction itwill be observed that while the elbows are not independently adjustable angular-ly. the whole coupling can be turned angularly' about the faucet shank so that the ends of the elbow coupling 55 can be variously positioned to take care of differences in the spacing of the members of the combination as great flexibility is provided by this form which permits the swinging or angular adjustment ot the double arm elbow axially about thc supply spout.

3. The combination, in a fitting of the class described, of a supply spout, a plurality of supply elbows fitted to the lower end of said spout and to each other and angularly adjustable relative to said spout a-ndto each other, a coupling member connected at its upper end to said spout and traversing said spout and elbows, and means at the lower end of said coupling member to clamp said elbows and spout in any desired pos1- tion of adjustment.
4. A swiveling supply connection for fittings ot' the class described, comprising a body portion having a waterway therethrough, an annular seat in the end of said body portion surrounding said waterway,
and laterally disposed branch connections extending from the body portion, said connections being independently swivelled to said body.
5. A swiveling supply connection for fittings of the class described, comprising a body portion having a waterway therethrough, annular swiveling seats in the ends of said body: portion surrounding said waterway, and laterally disposed branch connections extending from the body portion, said connection being independently swivelled to said body and in communication with the waterway therethrough.
6. In a fitting of the class described, the' combination of a supply spout having 'a basin outlet and a shank, a plurality of independent supply elbows swiveled to the lower end of the spout and to each other for independent angular adjustment, a coupling vmember engaging at its upper end the body of said supply spout `and depending through said shank and supply elbows, and clamping' means secured to the lower end .of said coupling member to clamp said spout and supply elbows in any desired position of Y adjustment.
