COOKING u'rnn'srn.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT B. Lnsn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Kewaunee, in the county ot' Kewaunee and 'State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cooking,r Utensils7 of which the following is a description, ref- 'ere'ncebeing had to the accompal'iying drawings, which are a part of this Specication.
The invention relates to cooking utensils. and more particularly to percolators 0r other devices using a glass top or cap in the cover. The object of the invention is to provide a connection between the glass top and the cover which will securely lock the top to the cover and which will permit of ready attachment of the parts.
With the above 'and other objects: in view the invention consists in the device hereinafter described and all equivalents. i'
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of a device embodying the inven-v tion; F ig. 2 is a detail sectional view of the cover; Fig. 3 is a bottom .plan view of a de`- vice embodying the invention.
In the drawlngs the numeral i designates a cover provided with a central opening 5 having a depending flange 61 surrounding said opening. This iange has diametrically disposed recesses 7 and 8 formedtherein and the bottom side of said flange is shaped to vforni oppositely disposed inclined or cani surfaces 9 and 10. The depth of the flange gradually increases from the recess 7 to the recess 8 to form the cam surta-ce 9 and gradually increases from the recess 8 to the recess 7 to form the cam surface 10. Thus the high parts of these cam surfaces are on posed projections 14 and 15 adapted to register with the recesses and 8, the lower end percolator covers, the connections are, such opposite' sides of the respective recesses portion of the cap being of a diameter to Iii, 1n the opening 5.
With this construction, when the cap positioned in line with the opening 5 and the projections let and 15 in line with the re- .5o cesses 7 and S, said cap is pushed inwardly to bring the flange 12 against the cover' and then by turning said cap to theright, when viewed from on top, the projections 14 and 15 ride on the cani surfaces 9 and 10 until the tiange 6 is tightly wedged beturen the iiange 12 and the projections 14 and 15 so that the cap is securely locked to the cover. lWhile it .is customary to insert glass tops in 'that after the tops have been removed, cleaned and replaced a number ot' times the covers wear and the glass tops l'iecoinc loose. with theI consequent annoyance of; the 'tops telling oft and,v in most cases, breaking, whereas with the present construction the in` clined edges of therov'er always insure a tight fit between the top and said Icover even after repeated removals.A
What l claim my invention is:
In a cooking utensil, Ythe combination of a metal cover provided Awith an opening andv a depending iange surrounding said open! ing, said Piange being; provided with recesses and inclined iower edges, a removable glass top' havii'ig)1 itsdmver end extending intoand throughsaidopening with an external flange adjacent saidl end and seated on said cover. the inner end ot said top being provided with outwardly extending projections adapt* ed to register with said rece, vliereby to permit their passage to the lower edges otl the flanges, said projections when engagi the flanges and turned with respect there Jo tightlv wedging the cover between them and the flange on said top.
ln testimony whereof, l aiiX my signature.
ALBERT B. LEYSE.
